The number of MyFxBook users and forum participants is increasing very fast. That is a GOOD thing, but when there are so many different people, there are so many different opinions and this could lead to flames, forum wars, mindless skirmishing, and so on.

We can block someone's PMs on the profile page, but it would be good to put some names on our personal ignore list so their posts would not be visible anymore.

No more flames, no more bullshit from that person.

We also need an editable ignore list in the profile.

There is freedom of speech and this is a public forum and all that, but sometimes I have a feeling that some members must have had a very tough childhood which is now reflected in their posts .... and this is NOT the Samaritan's Mental Help Hotline, is it?!

Say YES to the IGNORE LIST.

Surround yourself with people whose eyes light up when they see you and who have no agenda for your reform.

Speki,

There was a suggestion sometime back which pretty much had almost the identical idea of being able to select whose posts we would like to see, but it didn't find favour in the end.

Here it is :

https://www.myfxbook.com/community/suggestion-box/setting-minimum-vouch-for-commenting/58371,1#?pt=2&p=1&o=58371

I would love to be able to do what you have suggested. Will help save a lot of time spent on BS if you know what I mean 😉 because a large chunk of discussions/posts have got absolutely nothing to do with actual trading or anything constructive.

Speki,
You mean that if you add someone to your ignore list then you wont see he's posts? but other users will?
or you want to block the user from commenting in your thread?

Yes I mean everyone could decide whose posts they DON'T want to see. On ForexFactory for example the post text is hidden if the user is on your ignore list.

I don't want to block them from any threads, people are free to say WHATEVER they like.

Yeah, but... no, but ... this would mean some questionable EA sellers or serial account blowers, if they don't want questions, scrutiny, they simply block those members who dare to ask questions. Hm....

True.

Well they can always start their own thread or use their own system thread for that purpose and warn everyone about the scammers, the con-artists, the fraudsters, the managed account blowers who use multiple identities etc etc etc. If anyone is interested in reading what they post I am sure others will drop by and read. There's nothing stopping them from starting as many threads as they want.

At least the rest of us who simply want to be able to focus on our trading can do so now peacefully and use myfxbook for what it is, without being hounded by cowardly brats who hide behind multiple identities and have nothing better to do than to antagonize other members.

My thread is a classic example. Have I blown managed accounts? No. But see the crap on my thread. But the chap who has blown managed accounts and hides behind multiple identities doesn't have any BS posted on his threads or even questioned about his blown accounts by the scam-busters nor do I see myfxbook members being warned to stay away from him because he has blown many accounts. On the contrary if you dig deep, you will see him being praised for a month old account just before blowing it soon after and then there's deafening silence from those that would have painted the town red about the busted account if it was someone else !!

It's about time that this feature was implemented.

P.S: Thanks for making the suggestion.. or should I say repeating the suggestion. 😉

Well, these are delicate subjects.

First, regarding this recent change - if the owner wants the site this way, then it will be this way. I posted it a few times that the title page of my browser says MyFXBook is 'Automated analytical tool for your forex trading account & Social forex community'. It's not an 'Online marketplace for money managers'. It's not a 'Looking for the best money manager' website either.

We have to separate our private opinions about the flood of EA sellers, wannabe money managers, from the fact that MyFXBook is neither Currensee, nor Zulutrade, nor Tradency - so we have to live with demo trading fellows, and with those who think they could manage accounts after 2 weeks of trading, etc. etc.

You're right, if we see a scammer, we can start a thread and warn people about it.
In the past we just posted questions in their threads, well, now they can block us 😄

Second, regarding your thread 😄.

Sigh, after 10 minutes of thinking, I realised that I have to catch a train. Sorry about the BS, the anger and flames. There is always 2 sides of the story... but If people tried to behave on the internet, the same way they'd behave in a pub, we'd have less flames. I imagine, sat in a pub, with some friends, then Mr. Forex Refuge approaches me, calling me a 'mentally roadblocked dullard' as he did so many times here, then I turn around, stand up - 2 meters, 110 kilos - I look down, ask him, come again, brother? 😁 That's when the black fella turns pale. HA-HA. But if he has the anatomy of Mike Tyson ... then I'd prolly just STFU ... LOL

You can ask the staff to clean up your thread, tell them which posts you don't want and they will get rid of them for you.

The pub scenario - too funny !!! 😁 And oops.. you used the 'B' word !!!!😱

My thread - might as well delete ALL the posts... would be easier than trying to delete selected posts. It'll be nice to have a clean thread. But I'll let it be.

You'd be surprised how the chap who throws tantrums about not hiding anything and the transparency talk is quick to block people so they can't post on his thread !!! 😁 Oh and everything in his new account is hidden by the way !!! 😁 Like 100% black tinted glass !!!! 😄 Get it ?? The glass is transparent... but the tint isn't !!!! 😄 Since the account is public that means it's a commercial offering. So then nothing should be hidden right ??? Lol !!!! If it's not a commercial offering then he should have kept it private. I'm just using the same reasoning he uses on everyone else's threads. I guess he stopped trading this account after 2 weeks.. because his average account blowing time is about a month !!! So withdrawing before that is the only way to save the account I guess. Lol !!!!

It's because of this type of BS that I am of the opinion that implementing this feature was a good idea.

Block PM, but not public posts on public systems.

An exception would be moderators to remove really bad posts after report.
So no removal and not blocking of users from system forum.
Ability to personally decide if user want to HIDE (NOT BLOCK) the comments display of specific users is different than having user unable to answer.

RWFX ( ~ P A M M ~ ) (ranesh) user just block me from commenting in his forum, while accusing me out of thin air for multiple identities and account blowing...I am a user here since 2009..Not a new one..

He did to me exactly what defends here.

''You'd be surprised how the chap who throws tantrums about not hiding anything and the transparency talk is quick to block people so they can't post on his thread !!''

Probably he has a lot to hide and does not like criticism. he likes to ERRONEOUSLY ACCUSE PEOPLE as ACCOUNT BLOWERS out of thin air.. Without supporting evidence, nor even an indication this act is unethical at least..

I have never offered any public account management so far and just start distributing some limited signals for a limited time..Instead I have been a victim of other Money managers in the past, signalling services etc where they damaged my accounts and had to intervene not to loose them completely.....

Total UNETHICAL behaviour

You readers will be the judge..

Your fictional fantasy is out of question and goes with your amateur negative piping and open positions that draw an ugly equity curve into your miserable managed service!

Green growth and pips and no yellow DD curve in all my systems does not fit into your imagination...

Cheers

In my opinion, blocking people from publicly posting puts MyFXBook in the position of protecting these scammers. Inexperienced people, fall for these con artists time and time again. Simply posting a thread to identify the scams assumes that people can find the thread to see the scams. This is something that can be easily overlooked. That way people looking at a system get all the facts. I have been banned in the past for just asking a person to show his history or verify his account. Ignore is definitely the better option.
