From what I can tell Forex Crescendo opens up multiple positions as positions move into drawdown and then closes the basket of trades out once the basket has moved into profit.

So fundamentally it's a loss chasing staking plan.

In the same way as a martingale staking plan one day it might get caught out by a black swan event and you will lose everything

Here's the screen print from their website so you can see what I mean

Hi

I think it runs like blessing which is free of charge. Then no need to pay for such an ea, isn't it?

You're exactly right Steve, this EA will open multiple positions (as many as 9, maybe more) against a trend to try to make up for one initial losing position......and if the positions don't move into profit before a maximum drawdown level is reached, they all close together with a huge loss. Much worse than a martingale IMHO. I was sucker enough to buy this thing and when I tried to backtest it using their recommended settings, it shows that it blows up the account very quicky. I wrote the EA creator about it and here is his response;

'Hi

as you can read from the manual doing a backtest of the EA is quire useless.. for two reasons...

data quality and for the fact that the strategy works if you test GBPUSD and GBPJPY at the same time.

I use particular tool and data (tick by tick 99% quality) to do that and that how my backtests come out.

Kind Regards,
Andrea'

Of course, they don't bother telling you that it can't be backtest in MT4 until after you buy the thing. Who in their right mind would trade an EA that they can't even backtest? This is just another over-hyped SCAM EA. Don't waste your money on this loser.

I was to curious to know more about this EA beacuse the creator is an Italian guy as I am ... I asked him to show me a backtest from 2008 ... i got the same answer of RTSE.... i think it s just a martingale EA... let's see another EA that they are testing 'sistemaunodue' https://www.myfxbook.com/members/crescendo/sistemaunodue/49437 but it could be the same story of 'crescendo' just wacthed the history ....it opens three positions in sell and three in buy....

After buying it and seeing how it works, I'll probably get a refund. Tries to pick the trend and go with it, if trade runs against you it opens more orders in pre-set increments (a.k.a. averaging down). Plus it checks every X hours and opens more orders based on trend (you specify X, default is 12). It's not a martingale, it opens the same lot size for all orders, recommended values are extremely low so a huge move against you won't blow your account. You can close all orders at a specified % loss (at the account level). It could go on nice runs but if both pair were to run against you simultaneously, you'll hit your specified drawdown. No mathematical genius here at all, pretty much a grid trade-and-hope strategy IMO.

Yep, the first time I saw this type of system was when I traded commodity futures back in the early 80's. There was a book written by a guy named Robert F. Wiest called 'You Can't Lose Trading Commodities”, first published in 1980. Still have a copy sitting on my bookshelf. Interesting reading but not a practical trading system for numerous reasons. Andrea must have gotten a good deal at the half-priced book store.

@RTSE: I just heard about Wiest's book today (hence me finding this thread). A guy whom I respect was praising it, but it sure sounded like he was advocating averaging down, which conventional wisdom says (for a technical trader) never to do. The guy did seem to qualify it as being for commodities, and explained that (I believe) the reasoning is you do it when price gets below the cost to produce the commodity. So that, unlike a stock, price will not stay that low for very long. He also praised the book for addressing currencies, and I believe the cross-market aspect of commodities and currencies. So, based on my respect for this guy, aside from the averaging down part, I was considering checking out the book.

Is this a fair assessment of the strategy, the best that you recall, that you only do it when price gets to that extreme level? And is it possible that it would work in that scenario, though still I imagine with very small lots.
And any thought on there being any other value to the book? Thanks!

Dont waste your time man, this Crescendo EA does not use any STOP LOSS PERIOD!! And it so happened that on his live account a few weeks back the EA had 14 open positions that went to a -$6350.00, which worked out to be around -36% Open Trade DD.

Any real trader in this world including the professionals will tell you to never risk more than 2-3% of your account at anyone time, well this Crescendo EA blows that amount right out of the water, which makes this EA a very HIGH RISK EA to trade with and possibly blow your account up or take a huge hit. I sent it back for a refund before the 60 days had expired.

Hi JackJ59, well it's been 20+ years since I read the Wiest book but from what I remember he would wait for a commodity that was trading near historic lows in price. For example; say wheat was trading near a 10 year low, and then he would buy 1 contract of wheat. As the price of wheat varied from there, he would buy 1 additional contract each time the price retreated another 10 cents further or sell 1 of the contracts he was holding each time the price advanced 10 cents. The idea was that a commodity like wheat could only go so low because it had real tangible value and thus unlike a stock, its price could never drop to zero. The overall strategy seemed to make a lot of sense and Wiest showed a tremendous win/loss ratio in his book. However, the problems that immediately came to mind were; 1) this method could tie up a good deal of capital if the price went much lower than your starting price and stayed low for a long time, 2) you had to have enough capital to keep buying as price retreated, and 3) the rollover cost to trade into new futures contracts as the old ones neared expiration might get quite expensive. At the time I was trading commodities, there was no internet yet and it wasn't cheap to make trades through your broker. Like I said, it's been a very long time since I read the book, so that's the best that I can remember.

The bottom line is, from my own personal experience that forex crescendo expert advisor is a cheap piece of junk that never really makes money .

Further, it's used as a 'front' to collect emails and try to sell other junk to the uninformed. BEWARE !!
