    Hi Wilkinson,

Actually although it does have draw down periods it works in any year I have tested it in, it is robust, in choppy periods it sleeps, BUT if it breaks out with 80 pip 1 hr candles it takes on a lot of risk if there is a reversal, I am programming the EA with pending orders on break out instead of just buying at market with confirmed break. I do have it trading pretty small, the biggest draw down I could find in history with this setting is 20% On my personal account it would take me for 50% DD

Very good advise, I agree, if I wasn't convinced that it worked in the long term I would not have it on my account let alone managed. I did not curve fit the EA and it needs no tuning, it is missing a few features that will make for smaller DDs and allow me to trade it heavier.

By the way, the worst period I could find for this EA in back test, it was trending down, it is not that the market is trending or flat or choppy or anything, it is if the indicator finds the real range or not. And in this case it was the last week of December and it obeyed no ranges, but still it survived, which is why I use it.

But the account will tell whether or not I am just talking out my ass, and so far it is not looking sexy.

Sounds like you've tested it thoroughly and know the in's and out's of the system. Will be watching closely.

Good luck to you in your journey!

I have the pending order version of the EA running now as of seconds ago.

It increases my back test Profit factor by 1/2 a point, so I am very pleased with it, although it does miss a few runs I can't argue with the profit factor. -money well spent.

I have also implemented both the 'reversal strategy' and the original 'trend strategy' at the same time... when I first started this account it used only the 'reversal' as the 'trend' one had a draw down I did not like, now that it uses pending orders the DD has been not only controlled but is better the 'reversal' DD. Anyway, because of this change the account will sometimes have positions on against itself, so it may look strange at times but as both are profitable, it should work just fine. The only problem I see is that I am now trading a little heavier than I would have liked, my account is so small that it only trades 0.01 with one robot on, now it will trade that times two until the account is big enough that it starts using the MM percentages properly.

My goal is a robust robot that has a profit factor above 2 in the live markets. And I think it is entirely possible based on back tests that show better than that.

Again, this is just programmed, but my new programmer is a whiz and I have not found a bug since using him. So my fingers are crossed that I won't find one in my live managed account, LOL

And finally I wanted to comment on the EAs action so far, it is working perfect... which my seem strange as the account is negative currently but it is supposed to float up and down while the market is doing the same. I hope to soon show what happens when the market moves. My account should too :)

Thanks for your well wishes.

Alright, this is just embarrassing.

I switched over to the pending robot and the first pending order it puts on, the market does not even touch it, it goes straight through in to a new range, if I left it the normal way, I would have realized 128 pips...

Then to top it off I am trading twice my usual size because the managed account is so small, and it is now showing a draw down that should never be. I will let the account get back to 0 on this insane setting then switch to a new account that has more money in it so I can keep this setting (as it is the most robust way I have found).

The only problem with this plan is that I will not be able to call it $300 to $1,000,000.00 it will be more $1000 to $1,000,000.00 not as dramatic, but so be it.

I am extremely frustrated, that my first 'would be' winner trade was not taken due to a candle count glitch and my second because I changed it to a pending order robot. I can't even show you a single winner in 3 weeks of trading.

But what can I say, such is life.

So I am red faced... but maybe it has been entertaining to watch for others, $300 to $1,000,000.00 !!! I say ! -and I show performance of a graph straight down, I think if I was anyone else besides me I would have found some comedy in it.

Anyway, as usual I will leave this account on myfxbook so everyone has access to my original dismal start.

I guess the game is now 'How deep can I draw the account down' :) -Now I can get some entertainment.

@damon:
- check & recheck again any parameters that have been changed manually. I mistakenly changed lot size to 0.2 instead of 0.02
- no EA is perfect
- always monitor the trade, when is the time to deactivate EA
- understand the character of the EA, understand how to calculate margin level, free margin etc
- don't be greedy, if i have to take lost then do it....

Last night was the last straw for this managed account, instead of 250 pips up I took another negative, that's 5 positive trades this account messed up. If it was not one thing it was another, while it happily missed only 2 negative trades... I must have something going on in my universe to make it go that whacky and only if it is going to be a positive trade... like it knew the future or something.

I would not invest in an account that had a graph like this. So it is redundant. The EA is off and I killed the account.

I will continue to use/work on this EA as I am still well up with it in personal use.

But frankly, my brokerage has some excellent managed accounts in it now, I think I will spread my money across those for awhile.

Hope I kept someone entertained, I was ! In the end if I saw the market should have made me money I went out to the office to see how in the world the EA screwed it up this time, it always did... and it always did it in a new and entertaining way :)

This morning the server rebooted for an update, so stopped controlling my open positions and stopped trading the current range all together. The timing was unfathomably precise! LOL

Bye - Thanks for following :)

Hey fxuma,

Literally, the next trade was 350 pips X2 trades, and it has been doing better since I stopped the managed. LOL

I want to do another account but from $1000 instead of $300 I also have another 1 or 2 strategies that look very good that I may add to he mix. The main reason for stopping this one was not my horrible timing with changes and problems. It was that I was trading too heavy for the account.

So I will do another one, but I need to put much more planning into it. I still have the goal of 1 million without touching the account... it's the only way I will be able to make myself not touch the account and let it compound.

See you on here soon,

Damon
