Scalping or speed trading, these's not my goal. But I need to began from somewhere.
About the FX spreads, you might found some info in: http://www.fxintel.com/

PipGnostic,
The testing was just tested the theories. I don't want to trading in this kind of speed and beyond by manual even if it's possible, this's extremely exhausted!
MistiFx,
I don't trading at specific time, and I can't trading all time is this kind of speed. Granted this's not true HFT. But who said you can't do "market making" by manual? [cool] I simply could do it (at least for a limited duration)! But I would said, it's extremely exhausted and not suited for any life being to do. This should be done by the machines, by the algorithms, by the A.Is. The market is so big, ev......

MistiFx,
Very good idea! My strategy was working at low liquidity time well too but with plenty liquidity the performance will better. I just testing it at high liquidity trading time (between 9:49 to 10:00 EST), the result was quite good in my "high latency manual trading environment": P/L +$300 within 10 min and in total 57 orders without any draw-down. Yet some kind of additional risk management modules/functions should be build into the automation trading system certainly.

Hi MistiFx,
Although I need doing more tests for verified the strategy's performance in these violent time which you pointed out. The simplest solution could be just avoided trading at these occasion like PipGnostic suggested. I have nothing to add at present.

PipGnostic,
Yes! This can be done. However when I said 'spot news' that would be included computers/networks sides problems. If trading ES futures the spread will be a minor issue.

Hi ForexScam,
The 10k budget was a rough estimated. The simple idea was using my per-HFT strategy to self-support after verified it in the real account. Converted the strategy to automation trading system could increased it performance at least 30% (ex. $500/h to $650/h). But in this preliminary stage it'll be highly risky! You need to monitoring the operation 24h if you want to avoiding any "spot news". The strategy can be implementing by Excel with API or FIX bridge/add in. Ticker plant wouldn't required by this stage but for the latter stages.

OK, FX might be not very easy for doing HFT. It's could be harder than stocks and futures. I'm testing my pre-HFT strategy in E-Mini S&P futures by the demo accounts. The result was quite interesting. You could profit around $300 within 40 minutes. Please note this's done by "manual". Since I'm not a coder/programmer, I'll need someone who can do the programming works team up with me for implement/converted the strategy into algorithms and automatic trading systems/platforms. If you're the people who can and willing doing these jobs it can be further discussed.

Yes, we'll need smarter strategies and algorithms for compensated our execution speed if we have to used slower trading systems or engines.
We don't need to dependent on LMAX's data feed. By ordering ultra low latency full order book stream, we'll get considerable advantage in this factor. And for the FX trading, it's inherent factor which's not been fully centralized, hence the processing speed can't compare to "BATS". This condition could be unavoidable at present.

Hi PipGnostic,
We could accessing 5 levels order book by LMAX's $1,000 account. That would be sufficient for the early stage testing and trading operations.

Hi MistiFx,
LMAX would be qualified. And yes, 10k for a HFT start-up could be quite low compared to those multi-million dollar ultra high frequency trading operations/firms. But you virtually could do sub-second high frequency trading (hundreds trading per second) with no problem by using many off-the-shelf solutions (of course they're far more sophisticated than "MT4" and "scalpers EA") these days. And for those firm which have plenty resources, they might be choose R/D their own tools and systems form the ground, and often need far more time and manpower for these works s......
