For any new traders looking to learn how to trade manually (since I have been talking a lot about it lately)....I have a link for you. i just got this email today from a company i have tried in the past and have received a lot of VERY good training from. It is a link to a video for a trade they had posted recently and it shows what happened. More importantly, it talks about HOW they did it. https://forexmarketpreview.com/?p=266
Also...if you decide to sign up for their training, they do not use mt4, but use the ninja trader platform. The training still applies to mt4. Everything they teach in the training can be done in mt4.....including the line segment drawing on the charts.

The reason i decided to post the link to this particular video is because....this is the type of training you need to have to safely use Tom's EA. If you have the type of skills in this video, you will understand what I am talking about.

Hey everyone, don't pay for generalized Forex training. If you just want to learn enough to manage risk with TomsEA we have a free course. It seems like someone asked why we don't package TomsEA with some training. Its because we offer it for free without any purchase. This is a great start and will provide you with some great information on Forex in general. You can get access here. https://www.forextradersdaily.com/forextrainingcourse/

Excellent link. Lots of very basic information that you should already know if you are attempting to trade. Doesn't actually educate on actual trading, but make sure you know ALL this stuff before moving forward with anything else. The link I previously posted will send you to people that will teach you to trade once you know this stuff. I made an assumption that anyone hear would already know the basics, but better safe than sorry.

On a side note, for any technical traders looking to reduce chart analysis time, checkout www.autochartist.com
They have an excellent tool and it is given free at several popular brokerages.

I have done backtest similar with floops live account and i can say the backtest and live account is similar. In fact i am very surprise see how the backtest result and live account result is very similiar.
Backtest start on 04.11.2011-29.11.2011,EU,RL 2.

Refer to floops live account here : https://www.myfxbook.com/members/flopps/t-ea/187751 .
Go to custom analysis and choose EU only.

Backtest result is here : https://www.myfxbook.com/strategies/t0001/10413.

Attach is pdf file on my comparison between backtest and live account.
The analysis is start from last basket closed not counting after 28.11.2011, and i'm only do basket analysis trade where the EA start it's martingale position. On backtest account is using GMT and Alpari UK is using GMT+1.
Because the EA trade differently depend on when we start the EA it is hard to get similar result in the beginning, but when the 1st batch of trade is close after that it will be same trade in the backtest and live account. Best comparison is on the latest closed basket trade where we can see in backtest and in live account the position for martingale is open exactly at the same time.

Wa~~~, so similar results! TOMs EA is good for backtest!!!!!!!

when I talked with TOM, he said that the backtest could not reflect the real condition as live account due to this EA work at 1mins time frame for 1st -4th order trades, 30mins time frame for 5th order trade and 60mins time frame for 6th order and above trade.
Bact test could not trade with such complexed time frame. But when I asked why the backtest could open and close the trades like live account, but backtest could not handle the orders during the strong trend reversal which cause the account blow-up live live account. there is no answer.

I am also wondering how to develop TOMs EA without proper backtest. only moths forwards test, then sell to clients? very aggressive marketing approach ( I should learn:)). but this should not be true. Backtest is effective to understand how this EA handle different market condition.

with sideway market, and not strong trend (for example not soar more than 500pips continously for several days without retracement) market, TOMs EA is excellent.

But we should understand the big week point& risk with this EA.

from TOMs direct feedback, he also said he could not gaurentee that account was not blown up someday.

if you want to continously use this EA, especially for business, we should shift our eyes to how to manage the risk from the profit. Maybe we can collaborate with Dustin to improve it soon.

I don't know how he could get that, but as long as the logic is in the EA or dll file, backtest will calculate whatever time frame it use. Unless you need to change timeframe manually (EX :after 3position of 0.2, change chart timeframe to M30) then the backtest will not reliable. In my experience this is the most accurate martingale i had been backtest...

Quick question for you.... Did you use tick data from dukascopy to run your backtest, or stock mt4 data?

dukascopy

Then I see no reason the backtest would not be reasonably accurate. The only EA I know of that is not acceptably accurate in tick data backtests is Million Dollar Pips. The reason is just because of slippage and broker execution speed in the live market. None of that can be emulated in backtests. Since TEA isn't a super-scalper, your tests should be very close to the real world. I even ran some tests with stock mt4 data, and it was reasonably close to my account results. I don't consider myself an adept programmer yet, but from what I do know of mql4, when an EA analyzes a higher timeframe, it just uses the necessary number of candles from the current chart time to build the higher time. Of course, I have seen EAs that are required to be placed on multiple charts of different time frames and currency pairs. Supposedly, the EA tracked the pairs in relation to each other. I think it was a triangular arbitrage system now that I am thinking about it. Anyway, whatever.😀

Thought I would provide an update for those not following my account. One month of live testing with four pairs on RL8 (RL2 each) and starting account balance of $10000.

Aprox 14% Gain
DD of 2.2%
Max DD on open trades aprox 12% (currently 3%)

At this stage I'm looking at a ROI (paid 2K for the full license) of about 6 weeks. Still evaluating objectively for the full 2 month trial, but at this stage I'm very happy with this EA as a supplement to my other accounts.
