Why are the trading histories short lived? Does this mean the traders give up on the prop trading idea? Or something else is happening behind the scenes?

This is because when they reach their targets of 6-7%, they are now a full-fledged funded traders. The accounts you are seeing above are a few examples of traders that passed their evaluation process.
