The Australian market is notably higher on Thursday, recouping some of the losses in the previous five sessions, despite the broadly negative cues from Wall Street overnight. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 is moving above the 7,800 level, with gains across most sectors led by iron ore miners and technology stocks.

The Hong Kong stock market on Wednesday snapped the four-day losing streak in which it had plummeted almost 900 points or 5.5 percent. The Hang Seng Index now sits just above the 16,250-point plateau and it may tick higher again on Thursday.
