I prefer more strict regulations as these makes me feel more secure. So my fingers are crossed that most of these changes will pass through and maybe spread across different countries/regulators! 😄
A much safer environment for retail traders , it takes someone to lead the way then others will follow suit , some brokers have implemented changes before this , but others are slow to follow.

If you trade manually it is different as your emotions wont let you trade it the same way.
For a robot demo and real is the same
For a good broker it should be the same but you can always copy trades from demo to real.

What you see in the charts and the bid/ask price should be the same with any good broker. However when it comes to order execution in reality, especially if the robot opens large trades, then I guess there should be a difference.

It depends on broker. Demo should not suffer from requotes, delays or other issues.
Trading with good real broker should not as well.
On the other hand recently I faced sllipage of 50,000 ms on FxPro and they are not able to explain it .

When I was doing statistical analysis of my trade history , I noticed missing information from the provider , I contacted them and there reply was its not for stats purposes , same when I was downloading FXdata from their API missing inputs.

I think when trading with a good broker slippage is market-related fact, for example. I am afraid it is not possible for it to be replicated on demo, thus there is still a difference even with good brokers.
You mean your order was delayed by 50 seconds? If so, what was your actual slippage in pips? If they are B-Booking, they don't want to explain it for sure 😄

The point is: Losing 1milion on demo account as losing 1USD in real account. I know many traders, who are great trader but on demo. When they start trading real account it is disaster.

Demo is about testing and practicing, it is wrong to say 'demo trading' as on demo you are not actually trade. What you say is totally true and I just want to clarify this aspect. We can talk about trading only when real on live accounts 😄
Trading is like football - if you don't practice you can't win the game!

That is true but demo trading is all about practice. It doesn't really capture the emotional side of trading. You need a real live account to slowly get yourself acclimatized to risking real money

demo and real are different. You must have real trading (maybe small amount) to practise fx. demo just let you know the function of platform and some system you want to test.

Actually it is demo vs live 😉 I think some people still believe that the demo profits achieved can be easily replicated on live. Maybe part of the meaning behind this thread is to show whether this is correct or not 😄

Thanks for clarification! That is a long list of changes! 😄 Let's see if all will happen as planned by the regulators. Sounds good to me in general!
There's more to come , meetings between brokers and regulators will be taking place over the next couple of months.

Will follow the news on that and maybe you will keep posting useful links 😄

In my experiences, it depends how many pips you try to get. I was on demo, and I targeted only 10-20 pips per day (mostly one trade per day) and that target was achieved succesfully. 2 months later, I replicated that strategy and it has been around two months till now and still I get the same outcomes with what I got on demo. I realize that forex trading is very personal, and better trying by yourself. I've been two years in this business, and this is more about how to control your emotion than your technical knowledge.

I'm trading with Ctrader if this is matter

sorry for my bad english

@irwanwd Thank you for this detailed explanation. Number of pips you make is important but also the actual value of the pips and the loss/profit related. Platform matters in case you use special features unique for it.

Demo is the best environment to test all you concepts and to actually see how leverage, pips, spreads and swaps affect your trades.

Interesting thread,

I think Demo Trading is fundamental to Live Trading success. Just like other areas of life, if you dont prepare adequately in the simulated environment ....

...you will not be successful.

This is why Demo Accounts were created. Because of how difficult this market is, achieving Profitability with fake money is the only guarantee you will do so with Real Money. Otherwise, Disaster awaits.

The consequence will be that instead of your Live Account giving you profitable results by being dependent on a Successful Strategy rather than Emotions or Luck,

it will produce losses after losses by being dependent on a Emotions & Luck..

A 200 Pip Move on the EURO USD is the same on a Demo as it is on a Live. If you have a successful strategy that captures this on a Demo, you will be able to do that on a Live.
