chairman posted: Trading EURUSD and suffering from the nasty short position - I've just watched TomsEA add a lot to the long basket when the market paused on the way down, then 13 minutes and 1/10th of a pip later add a boatload more lots to the short basket. Ummmmmmm ........
For yourself and others, I would suggest you watch what happens to the take profit point on your trades when this happens. The EA trades ranges in price and it's not hard to predict likely trades when you keep an eye on it for a while with ranges in mind. Actually, it's kinda neat just to watch......

Hmm...well thank you for the idea tradingshed. I tried it after looking at the log file you sent me and the updater did seem to run though it didn't update much of anything. On the plus side, my email and password started working again...so I guess that issue got resolved by ghosts in the machine or some such thing. Since it's the weekend, I decided to just remove Tom's EA and installed the new version available via the member's area. Since the issue is fixed now, I just hope that some disruptive action isn't taken on the back end to mess with my authorization credentials.

Hey there Tradingshed. Indeed i have made absolutely sure that my MT4 instances are closed and any processes related to MT4 are not running on my VPS. I do get an error message from the updater that reads: "Cannot open file "C:\Program Files\Toms EA\UninstLog2.log". The system cannot find the file specified." That prevents me from updating the EA which is a concern in and of itself but not being able to authenticate since my purchase method was changed is a larger concern and no one being available from support at this time is rather frustrating.

Decided to wait for the weekend here to update...seems that may have been a mistake. Updater has malfunctioned and support is a Monday to Friday type of deal it seems. Even if I decide not to update right now, I also seem to now lack the ability to authenticate as the authentication software tells me I have an invalid email address or password. The second issue is likely the result of changing from the monthly payment schedule to paying for the EA outright but bottom line is that I just can not run the EA and markets open now seems too close for comfort even though they only just shut yeste......

My O/S has never crashed thanks. It runs on a VPS that is dedicated to running instances of MT4. I have my MT4 logs deleted by way of an automated script. whatever the case, I like keeping things up to date and fresh which is why I restart everything outside of market hours. I think that the benefit of this should be obvious if anyone ran into problems because of using an older version of this EA for instance. whatever the case, if your system has any sort of memory leak, restarting your O/S will help you avoid hiccups because of this if you didn't catch it for some reason.

Terrible. Logs should be regularly deleted, operating system should be updated and restarted regularly. You don't have to update your MT4 build (I personally operate a rather old build) but your operating system should be properly maintained along with your EAs.

So far as I know, the EA includes an updater. So long as a trader restarts their trading platform once a week, they should be using the latest version. If a trader is using an automated system and does NOT restart their platform at least once a week, they have other issues in respect to responsibly using automated systems.

I`m confused because I`m over trading an account that I use to test EAs. It is only $3,000 in size and I`m trading 4 pairs on risk level 1. The vendor recommends that to be trading at this level, an account be at least $6,500 in size. I experienced draw down on this account of up to something like 20% in open trades. How is it that the account I'm over trading is experiencing such little draw down in comparison to fughe's tests? On risk level 2 on all four pairs, I assume I would have experienced up to 40% but I thought I was over trading the EA as it is already. I am getting very very s......
