Is Myfxbook Backtest free?
Yes. Myfxbook Backtest is completely free to use. A registered Myfxbook account is required.
Does Backtest use real money?
No. Every order and position inside Backtest is simulated. No trade is sent to a broker.
Is Backtest for manual strategies or Expert Advisors?
Myfxbook Backtest is designed for interactive manual market replay.
Automated backtesting of an EA generated by Strategy AI is handled separately through Strategy AI.
How much historical data is available?
Myfxbook provides more than 20 years of historical market data, including data down to the one-minute timeframe. The exact first available date may vary by symbol. The available instruments are: crypto, forex, indices, commodities and metals.
Can I use more than one chart?
Yes. You can open several synchronized charts and use different symbols or timeframes in the same Backtest session.
How many symbols can I use?
A backtest supports up to five simultaneous unique symbols.
Several charts using the same symbol on different timeframes count as one unique symbol.
Why is the replay not moving?
Check the following:
- The replay is not paused.
- A replay speed has been selected.
- Historical data has finished loading.
- The selected date contains available market data.
- The backtest has not ended or reached a margin call.
You can also use the next-step control to advance the replay manually.
Why are there no new candles during part of the replay?
Forex and many other markets do not generate regular candles during weekends and certain market holidays.
There may also be occasional historical data gaps for a particular symbol or period.
Why was my order rejected?
Common reasons include:
- Invalid lot size
- Insufficient free margin
- Unsupported order settings
- The backtest has already ended
- The account has reached a margin call
- The selected symbol is not active or fully loaded
Review the order details and account margin before trying again.
Why does my result differ from my broker’s chart?
Myfxbook and your broker may use different historical price feeds, time zones, spreads and symbol specifications.
Myfxbook Backtest also uses one-minute historical data rather than the broker’s complete tick history.
Can I use several timeframes for the same symbol?
Yes. Multiple timeframes can be displayed and replayed in sync.
For example, you can use H4 for the main trend, H1 for structure and M15 for entry timing.
Can I save my Backtest?
Yes. Myfxbook Backtest are automatically saved.
Can I share a Backtest?
Yes. Backtests can be shared with other traders for discussion, comparison or review.
What happens after a margin call?
The Backtest stops and displays options to restart the test or exit the session.
Does a profitable Backtest mean the strategy will be profitable?
No. A Backtest is a historical simulation and cannot fully reproduce live spreads, slippage, liquidity, execution delays, trading costs or trader behavior.
