Sitting on a large losing trade(s). only 55% equity. Looks sketchy

Its been a hard slog, but I have finally recovered from July's bad trading and have cracked the 40% gain mark. The reason the system does not show the 40% is I deposited some extra funds in the account that I got through an IB cash back program - I still class this is as profit. what are your thoughts? Should trailing commissions based on a cash back program be counted as profits towards your trading?

mr euphoria,
why hide your balance? this is received by many as a deceptive practice.
if it is only a couple of hundred bucks, just say so.

If it makes you feel better than it is only a couple of hundred dollars. I am not here to sell a thing and it is a tool to use to analyse my own trading, not to generate dodged up results so i can onsell a system. So if it helps with your own inadequacies, then yes it is only a couple of hundred dollars

Month 2 of profitable trading - " System seems stable. I think I got it."

Hi All,
Not really a holy grail at all. But I am wondering a few things.
1) How many people are searching for a 'holy grail'?
2) How long have you been searching for a 'holy grail' ?
3) If you found a 'holy grail' would you stop searching?
4) Have you any experience in trading manually and were/are you profitable?

Me Trading and learning the markets after 12 months of EA coding and testing and ultimately failure. I am back to basics and learning what I should have first. How to do it manually.

I have not performeda ten year backtest and I think I will run one next week when I get home to my own pc. I will say that the May 06-May07 did not produce results and in fact was a losing proposition. I did 'optimize' the EA over that 3 year period however, and at the time thought if it was profitable over one of the most volatile periods of financial history (maybe??) it would be fine. But I was surprised at the unprofitability prior to this period although still decided to test on a demo account. Cheers
