Can you leave Forex Trading?
in
New Traders
Dec 14, 2020 at 05:43
The way I see it, you either leave it in the very beginning if you take a few losses and you are not persistent enough to keep going, or you stay for the long haul. :)
Impulse Trading and How to Avoid It
in
New Traders
Dec 14, 2020 at 05:38
To these three points I would add a fourth saying "stick to your plan no matter what". You need to trust your system and trade according to it even if some kind of impulse hits you. If you trade impulses, you lose control over your decisions. Even the best system is not worth much if you can't stick to it.
Post Why should you as a trader pay attention to interest rates?

Dec 14, 2020 at 05:34
The modification of interest rates also have an impact on the economy. Lower interest rates can stimulate the economy as it is cheaper to borrow money. Higher interest rates do the opposite and this way they play a role in controlling inflation.
Newcomers and their greediness

Greed is certainly a tough emotion to conquer. In my experience beginner's greed diminishes as one acquires more knowledge and learns more about what profits are realistic and unrealistic.

This year definitely hasn't been easy for investors. Trading has been a better option in my opinion. I saw and still see better and clearer opportunities on the stock market. Nothing is completely secure, of course.
My Favourite pairs

True, but also there's no need to dispute anything. All that matters is that everyone has something they are comfortable with - there are many options and many ways to make a currency pair work.
There are many advantages

Very true, there are many advantages to being a trader, although it is a little bit less romantic and more complicated than sitting in your bed with your laptop in front of you :D
Not an easy task

Definitely, it is not easy. Sometimes even people who try to educate themselves well fall into the trap of believing that markets have an order to them and forever search for the one thing with which they can predict everything.
BITCOIN DEAD ¿?

Dec 04, 2020 at 17:46
The original post is quite old here, it's kind of ironic that it was made not long before bitcoin boomed. I like how the thread is still alive. At this point, there's no question that BTC is alive and well.
Experiences with regulated firms

I haven't had any bad experiences with regulated brokers. I'm sure not all of them are perfect, but they are definitely a safer choice than unregulated ones.

I totally agree, no newbie should start trading on a real account rightaway (unless it's a cent account, maybe).
How long on a demo account

I agree with those who say you shouldn't stick to a time limit on demo trading but rather measure your progress based on performance, and move on when you are consistently profitable on a demo account

Famous Traders and Investors, what to think of them
in

Nov 30, 2020 at 09:33
Mario Gabellio, John Neff, Larry Tisch, Marty Whitman, David Dreman, Jim Rogers and Michael Steinhardt are investors to look up to. Also Benjamin Graham, who was Warren Buffet's mentor. These people are indeed very inspiring, we can learn a lot from their stories. If you like getting inspiration from other successful traders and investors, Jack Schwager's Market Wizards books might be a good read for you.
Forex is not like gambling

Nov 30, 2020 at 09:26
You are right. Many people come to trading with the mindset of a gambler and then claim forex isn't profitable because they lost. But speculation is something that requires skill and a kind of mental strength, it is a lot more nuanced than gambling.
Expert Advisor...good for beginners?
in
New Traders
Nov 30, 2020 at 09:21
I don't think beginners should be using EA's either. If you don't have enough experience, you have to trust the EA blindly, which is like trusting a complete stranger with your money. You need to be patient and only start trading - whether automated or manual - once you know how to build and test a strategy.
Revenge trading

Definitely. If you lose a trade, it's important to cool your head before you make any new decisions. Meditate, or go for a run, do whatever you have to in order to get rid of the frustration and move on. It gets better with time, once you learn to trust your long-term profitability.
Fundamental or Technical- novice traders should start with?
in
General
Nov 30, 2020 at 09:12
I completely agree, fundamental and technical analyses complement each other nicely. Fundamentals are good for picking out assets that are trending and predicting the general direction, but technicals are essential for deciding when to enter and when to opt out.
What are good stats in Forex

I second this, incuding the "read van Tharpe" part - his book Trade your Way to Financial Freedom offers good advice. He also writes about testing your system, there are methods to quantify the reliability of your trading method, especially your entry.Other than this the important things have already been mentioned before my post but I would like to add, as you yourself Pax_Fx have mentioned, being disciplined and sticking to your plans is a very important factor, failing to do so can render even the best strategies totally useless.
Trading is all about your comfort

You are right, you definitely have to find a trading method and timeframe that suits your personality, your goals and your lifestyle. It can take a while for trading to really become comfortable, though.
