what kind of spreads do you look for in a broker, higher commissions, and less tight spreads or the other way around?
For me, the spreads have to be tight and no, the commission should not be higher, the lower the better. These are perfect term for scalping which is what I like to do with brokers like fxview.

I think a new trader should choose those brokers which have minimum spreads. Because spread playes an important role to make profit.

Spreads should be tight but commissions shouldn't / don't have to be high either. Especially if you trade on short timeframes.

being a scalper, i prefer tight spreads and low commission.
I definitely take into account such environments that have little effect on trading and for Amarkets where they are from 0.2 points, I think it is a good option.
I always like zero spreads account. I give commission but prefer zero spreads. Though zero spreads account has commission, it seems profitbale to me than standard account.
For me spread is not that important as I always markup the spread to my client's account for profit. The most important is the swap charges and commission in each trade as I'm a swing trader, this is most impact to my trading strategy.
