There were lots of good trends since you've started, like GBPUSD mid 2014 to 2017: from ~ 1.70 to ~1.20. Fetch your calculator and see how much you'd gain in cash selling every weekly bar (or at least a green bar). Even with your 0.01 lots per bar it would be ...? ... There is nothing wrong with scalping thou...

an interesting story of yours and a good post overall... The markets nowadays are tougher for everyone, scalpers and trend traders - everywhere including stocks, little value left in most of them. Mr Soros had a much easier life in the 60s... At the moment imho fx is still the best even if they cut rates like mad 😡... what about trends in GBP this year? - very juicy for a leveraged trend follower 😎...😉

sure - but this relates to traders' risk management... the guy asked about one's longest trend in pips. There are not so many quality trend traders around thus the low activity on this trend... By the way most social platforms "push" beginners to concentrate on making pips from scalping - that's wrong... 😎

For a trend following trader the number of pips they squeeze from a trend is directly proportional to profits in cash. It also says about the QUALITY of trend traders as it's not easy at all to time a trend right... but if you do it well it's very rewarding. This is why there are not so many contributing to this thread - nothing to show... Of course, some may scalp a trend with EAs - it's good - but so much riskier especially at the trend turns (good for brokers thou)...

my top 4 in pips: https://www.myfxbook.com/files/tacet/Screenshot_%286%29.pngas you can see the holding time is anything from 10 days to 3 months. The longest time ever for a position I had was 15 months - and in the end it was a 695 pip looser NZDCHF :(
