NAR said its pending home sales index plunged by 7.7 percent to 72.3 in April after spiking by 3.6 percent to an upwardly revised 78.3 in March. Economists had expected pending home sales to decrease by 0.6 percent.

Eurozone Economic Confidence Rises, Jobless Rate Falls

Euro area economic confidence improved in May as the economy recovered from a recession and the unemployment rate dropped slightly in April, separate data showed on Thursday. The economic confidence index rose less-than-expected to 96.0 in May from 95.6 in the previous month, survey results from the European Commission revealed.
