Rackspace.com is one that a buddy of mine used.... he seemed pretty happy with them.

Omni is indeed generous but a free VPS isn't so hard to come by, some brokers offer free VPS to their traders. But there is a difference between cheep and good. You can get a VPS for $9.95 a month but get them to keep it from crashing? well that's another subject. I finally found one that I have been happy with for several years now, with the undignified name of "Kick Ass VPS" (kickassVps.com).
Bunch of computer geeks that don't understand business I expect. Great service for $29.95 - dumbest name of the lot.

If you are looking for a low budget Virtual server I would recommend:
UK = Fasthosts.co.uk
USA = GoDaddy.com
If you've got a bigger budget and fancy something a little more 'hardcore' try:
UK = Rackspace.co.uk / .com (Very expensive)
USA = Softlayer.com
Quick affordable servers here are VERY good for the money.
EUR = http://www.hetzner.de/hosting/produkte_rootserver/px120ssd
Some advice: Never go with a little unknown host, it's asking for trouble. check places like www.webhostingtalk.com if you want to check somebody's background - most of the complaints are posted there :D
