Yes, you are right. I remember though there were cases in the past when algos set to react to social media posts caused quite big spikes in the market prices. Good thread, I enjoy reading the posts.@xgavinc Thanks for your previous clarifications! 😄

Seems that for now parity forecasts won't be a reality with the pair moving up towards 1.0720, recovering from its all time lows in December and beginning of January. Both MACD and Momentum confirm the bullish trend on H1 chart.

After the reversal in the 3rd week of December, we see now a strong bullish sentiment for the gold against the dollar. Watch out for resistance at 1233 with a good long trade opportunities currently.

Quite a rally for the pair recently after May's speech, indeed! Like a roller coaster falling down fast and now back up breaking the strong resistance level at 1.2310 and moving further upwards. MACD is close to the zero line while momentum is very bullish.

I would watch for a short term support at 1.3000 and major resistance at 1.3190. The double bottom seems to be a good sign for reversal into a bullish sentiment. The pair is getting outside the oversold area.

I agree with you, XAUUSD broke a key resistance at 1140 so it may start a bullish trend soon. Stronger signals we could expect after the holidays.

I think it was already said on this discussion that patience is key and my recent trade on XAUUSD prove it. I held a long position (initially losing) for several days until the pair eventually rose up again and closed it with a profit 😄
What kind of trader you are? Part time or Full time?

I trade part-time, it works well for me in combination with other sources of income. Recently I tend to hold more trades overnight so I guess swing trading style suits me well.

I don't see any clear signal for opening a new position currently. It will be that calm until middle of next week I guess, trading in the current range (1.0423 - 1.0468). Time to take a break and enjoy the holidays 😉

Any expected release date of MT6? With all the hype around MT4 not being supported and focus now mainly on MT5 by MetaQuotes, it would be quite a surprise to see MT6 anytime soon. Maybe by end of 2017? 😄

I agree with you about the growing popularity of MT5. In my opinion, these 2 platforms target different types of traders/brokers so they both have the reasons to exist and be supported. For brokers with not many instruments and focusing on FX, MT4 is a good fit to offer to traders I guess.

The pair crossed the support at 1.2270 now trading at around 1.2240. RSI is around the oversold area while momentum is slightly bearish. This could be a sign of trend reversal with the price bouncing up by the market close today.

@togr Talking about bloodbaths, I would like to refer also to what happened with the Dow Jones index around the US elections when the price moved by 1200 points within a single day - http://www.myfxbook.com/files/RichardBills/dowupdown1220points.png. Up and down, unpredictable historical movement. I personally would call this a bloodbath 😄

Sure, what I was saying is that this is how it goes, there are periods like that and now the pair is again rising. What I said was that in your example you are showing 200 pips difference, not 2000 pips 😄 So my point was just to give the precise calculation, not to argue whether it is a bloodbath or not.

Well, 200 pips to be precise 😄 but 2000 pipettes 😉 This like that happen during news but for some careless traders it was a bloodbath I guess.
