Hi there,

is it just me or anybody else is having trading issues due to Coronavirus outbreak?
I hate such events; Brexit were messing with trades for a long time and Covid could be even worse...

From my little world at home i just try to follow my rules, what i have noticed is that the moves are faster, and the daily ATR numbers are larger on the AUDUSD, i still have a difficult time following my bet size rule. I have the ATR in there as a way to say hey slow down, if the ATR gets to High i reduce the number of trades open at one time , not the number of units per trade. But alas i am still learning and controling my bet size is the main prob i have.

Good luck in your trading, yes i have noticed changes , how fast the price moves, but not a change in the rule set , so if my rules say buy im buying and if my rules say sell im selling, or at least should, my human behavior gets the best of me sometimes and i still have problems following my rules, and either luck saves me or i have a string of 5 or 6 loses as a slap on the wrist

It's the only way to go, this month has been my best month for the past six months, i guess my strategy does well during volatile times

Strange as it may seem but I earned this month although I did not think. All thanks to these sharp jumps in the stock market. But this is more an accident than the expected result. What is happening now in all markets, and I do not like it.

Markets are too volatile now. Technical set ups need huge stop losses. I am used to 20 pips stop loss but technical now say Sl should be 200 pips!

Markets are not following any trading pattern. It is not corresponding to trading as we know it.
Yes you can make nice profit which could wiped out by very big fast movement.

That's why there's provisions for Stop Loss and Trailing Stop

You know nothing John.
Sometimes even SL are not executed, as far as I recall Swiss bullet

A Stop order should execute, no matter the volatility, that's why it's recommended we use a reputable broker

In a sudden move the price jump across your stop loss, the stop loss gets triggered but when it closes all position, the price is already moved far away from the level you set before. Also to stop loss you need people who are willing to trade against you at your SL price. Event such as Swiss franc in 2015 will blow up your account no matter you have stop loss or not. Because nobody is trading against your stop loss.

The black swan videos on forex academy youtube covers this well

I see that as a good thing (for Forex trading). Over the last 12 months the price movement has flat lined on all FX pairs. Now we have volatility and potential for profit

I agree with reducing lot sizes and widening stops due to the insane volatility we've seen recently. Take extra precautions with risk management to avoid blowing up your account. However, this has been a great opportunity to make money. The market has been extremely volatile, as well as predictable over the last 2 weeks. Don't forget to keep up with news regarding COVID-19 and the measures countries are taking to control it.

You make more money because you are risking more,
nowadays pair could slip 100.0 pips in a moment.
That is opportunity to make bigger profit but also bigger loss
Keep that in mind.

Whether price move 10 pip or 100pip it is all the same to me. I equalise my Lot size so that I risk the same always

With this coronavirus I observe a roller coaster on many currencies where there was not so big volatility as it is now. I don’t even know whether it is worth risking and trading? As far as I see in most major currencies, the trend is down.

Hi Anastasi,

I trade mostly scalping related trades now. They have a lifetimes as open trade between 2 seconds and 300 seconds. To be able to control this way of trading, I use EA. I do normally OK with this type of trading when it is volatile market.
I also use another setup for trading less volatile markets.

I just started a new account now, and as you can see, there is volatile situations, but the system seems to be able to control this quite 'angry' market.

I have created this system using different controller components. The system as it is now has become fully automatic, but the total product is quite complex now.

And yes, trading is still worth to do, but you need the right tools as usual.

Good luck!

As for me everything is very bad entirely and absolutely on basically every possible level here, I do assume all will fix itself. But I plan to to make buys on every money I have now and just wait out over time till it work again with new waves entirely.

That's much better. Just give it a break than to incur losses.

I can really tell you that we may need something like dealing with commodities entirely at least for the moment, cause all else simply do not work absolutely on any level. Where do you plan to get it done? Let's find out clearly. All esle is simply unpredictable now.
