hi folks, which broker in your experience provides the most realistic and closest representation in demo accounts of the same brokers live accounts, both mini and regular?

i.e some say **** broker is real different when comparing their demo account to live account, price feeds, fixed/variable spreads news report spread changes, spikes, general representation of the real market fluctuations. which brokers tend to wage against your positions in live accounts also.

how different does your EA perform in live account compared to demo account, does your EA make fewer trades, losses more than it wins in live accounts compared to your forward testing on demo etc?

lets shed some light on this subject, i'd be very interested to find out how many of you with real live accounts agree on same broker(s)

many thanks

Well, I don't think there is one broker with exactly the same execution both in demo and real accounts.

That being said, the closest to accomplish that from my experience is Oanda, but on the other hand I didn't use Oanda with an EA so can't say how their api performs when compared to demo accounts.

Also, why would a broker show you the re-quotes, spread widening and slippage on a demo account? There's really no point in doing that unless the broker wants to scare clients away. That's also the reason why you won't find a broker with exactly the same execution on a demo and real account.

If you are trading any sort of mid- to long-term strategy, that doesn't rely on an EA, a demo account is good for getting a feel for the mechanics of both trading itself and the broker's platform. Due to the price smoothing that you get on a demo feed there is bound to be a difference when moving into a live environment. To say nothing of the emotional impact that comes when a live trade is in drawdown!

If you feel you have a solid method and it has been tested for a few months in demo then go live with the smallest account size you can get. If you can replicate the same or similar growth in a live account then after a while you'll know if this is the right broker for you.

If you don't like what they do then demo another broker and transfer your dollars to them if they seem to offer an improved trading environment. Wash and repeat, but at the end of the day all retail FX brokers are much the same in terms of execution.

It might be worth looking at someone like MB Trading as they have an MT4 hook through to their ECN platform and although the demo is a bit flaky atm at least they appear to be genuine.

MB trading's live account is sooooooooo much better than their demo. Don't know exactly why but the demo is really buggy. I've traded with MB since early this year as a beta tester for MT4. I haven't had any problems with MB Trading.

Jade FX's demo is the most similar to live trading that I have seen. I know I know everyone is going to say 'Jade FX...how could you trust them? they are unregulated and less than a year old!'...Well it's simple for me, I figured with the trading environment they promised and are now delivering in my LIVE account, I feel that it's worth the money to see if they are the real deal. So far, they are awesome. I don't have a huge amount of money with them, but haven't heard of anyone having trouble getting a withdrawal. The commissions are half of MB Trading and the spreads are better.
