Why do you think that? I just downloaded the software and everything is still dated 5/13. If they won't answer a frigging email, I doubt they're going to update the software.

I think you're mistaken. Its not that it doesn't buy during big news, rather, it just hasn't in a few weeks now. Is it a news filter? Or the was the setup just not there. Big difference. They would have to update the software to include a news filter and that has not happened.

I am trading it as well. It's a money maker, until its not. You can manage it with tighter position stops and position sizing, but if you trade all in like they do, you will surely lose.

Peace!

I think you are correct Ken. They would have to add a news filter script into the program (FFCal for example), and reissue a new version. I'm hoping someone at the helm got smart, and decided not to throw the switch during news.

parlavink: You can follow the news. Filter out all news except red flag news. Even then there's quite a bit. When you see stuff like: Draghi speaks, or, Yellin speaks, or FOMC, or, unemployment news coming out; these are some of the events you DON'T want to be trading in. Disable the EA before the news, and wait at least an hour after the news to enable. I typically just leave the EA off all day, until Sydney and the Asian session have had a chance to react.

Here's an example: tomorrow (friday) looks to be a safe trading day. No red news is listed to affect the eur/usd. However, Draghi speaks on Monday, 9:00 AM est. I would turn the EA off Sunday before 5:00 PM, and keep it off until at least noon on monday, maybe even longer.

Why is there a need to go there? The one here on myfxbook itself isn't reliable?

Either one is OK I guess. I use it because most of the EA's I've had that use a news filter, (Scalpino, Breakout Hunter, Master Scalper, for example) use the FFCal script.

Can you clarify about tighter position stops? To my knowledge, this EA has SL of 250 pips. Are you closing your positions manually when it reached certain DD?

Can you clarify about tighter position stops?

I have done extensive analysis of all the sPhantom trades. When you download the historical data from myfxbook, it shows, in pips, the draw down that each trade took before it went profitable, or when it closed at a loss. BY having this data, if you're competent in Excel, you can play a lot of 'what if' scenarios. By adjusting lot sizes and trailing stops, you can see what each of your assumptions in trade size and stops would have done. I have analysed stop losses from 50 pips to 150 pips in 5 pip increments to see what the performance and robustness of each stop would have been. I then plotted that performance in graph form so I could see the uniformity of performance over time. Once I selected the proper stop, I used trade sizing and compounding to see what the performance of sPhantom would have been since inception. With the settings I am using (120 pip stop, 10% of the account per trade) sPhantom would have done a 95% AROR. Its not the 800% that sPhantom did, but your not blowing out accounts either. With the manual intervention that I am doing on news, I expect this to be significantly better. There is another system I trade that has a news filter and on Sundays, an email gets sent out that gives us their judgement on what they are avoiding for the week and why as well as the start times and end times they use in GMT. I am using this to manually filter sPhantom.

If you would like to be on the weekly news filter list that I send out, or if you would like the spread sheet with my analysis as well as the explanations, send me an email at [email protected]

And if you want the customized ex4 that sPhantom issued so you can adjust your stops, I can share that with you too. You'll never get it from those rat bastards anymore.
