Considerng the way TEA works, closing out trades for any reason is the only way to give yourself a 100% guaranteed loss. If it was my account, I would reduce risk but leave the current trades running....unless......the recovery trades will be at the new reduced risk. In which case you are stuck at the current risk level until the EA manages to get flat in the market on said pair. That may require the restricting of that pair to non-hedging.

As far as closing out....depends on if you believe you have the available account equity so survive the potential DD. They have not adequately explained the full risk, and I am not going to. You will need to bug Dustin to explain a potential maximum risk assessment. Do not expect him to post it here on myfxbook, but it wouldn't be unreasonable for him to post it in the members area forum.

I agree.
The only reason I personally would close out trades is if my DD limit was reached and I believed no reversal in sight.

What would be welcome is a feature to allow the blocking of new trades while still managing the open ones. The topic is being discussed in the member's area.

Hey Fughe and tradingshed,

Are you both going to run the EA over Christmas?

Also, how many of you are flat and closed now...

I have a small DD on a 8K account but not sure if we will get a bounce in the next week...before Christmas...

Only run an EA during the next 3 weeks if you want to lose money. TEA.....if you already have open orders, let it ride. It may drawdown pretty heavy, but you have a good chance of getting out without a loss if you leave it alone. If there are no open positions....it wouldn't hurt to shut it down until next year.

Thanks...fughe. I just closed my open positions on the EURUSD, EURGBP, EURUSD & USDCAD....small loss but feels correct as those EURUSD & GBPUSD buys were a worry over Christmas. Thanks for the advice and feedback. Have a great holiday.

fxnewswatch,
The answer is yes from me, I will be running the EA, although I will reduce risk. Please note though that I also have a breakout EA and a scalper running on this account. 3EAs in total. I also agree with fughe on the dangers (again, it seems! :-).

Here is why and how:
The majority of my DD is EURUSD and I feel the other two EAs (expecially the breakout) should help to compensate the DD. In addition to that I will attempt to hedge from a violent move down by placing a stop sell manual order below the recent lows on EURUSD, sizing the position according to my open positions on Tom's. The profits from the short should then compensate for the DD should that scenario play out.

Unfortunately, my recent analysis is now looking abit shaky as, although we are holding support and we had a nice bullish candlestick yesterday, today we are lacking follow through on the upside. I know the day is not over yet but a Doji candlestick is forming on the daily and that is not pretty :-(

In addition, the sea of red on 4XLounge EURUSD dashboard does not bode well for my retracement upwards.

On the positive side :-) equity indexes are still holding support into the week end and there has been no sell off in the last hour of trading...well....still 20 minutes to go.....

😁 Taking all bets on EURUSD open next week!!!! 😁

My feeling is that we will open about where we close.....but with the drastically decreased volume....we could see a massive gap😀😎😭😇😲😂😱

Hi tradingshed, can you specify what are the 2 other EAs you're running along with Tom's ? I was looking for a breakout EA as well to reduce the DD on TEA but didn't find one yet, thanks, Val.
yes I can...

hi Tradingshed, thanks for many meaningful posts from you and fughe. I also have the interest to receive information about the other two EAs.

by the way, do you apply these 3 EAs in your real account in Myfxbook (GKFX)? it seams quite good so far.

My stats aren't public on any of my systems, so i could care less about them being displayed correctly. I know what is going on in my accounts, so it has no effect on me.

Just to clarify that I do not sell or promote anything...just trade.

I share a live account on myfxbook running 3EAs of which Tom's is the main one. The account has magic numbers and trade hystory enabled so anyone can use custom analysis and have a look at each of them.

Don't forget it is a spreadbetting account, therefore you have to divide the lot size by 10 (when it shows 0.10 is actually 0.01)

If anyone has any question, if I can help i will.

Apologies fughe, you may have got the wrong end of the stick.

I've been a member of Tom's ea since Nov but in the members area I follow the primary stats results and they have not been updated since 12th Dec, If this account is not yours I apologise.

Can a moderator please explain why the primary myfxbook stats link in the members area has not been updated since the 12th Dec please?

Cheers
