European Economic News Preview: UK Inflation Data Due

(RTTNews) - Consumer prices from the UK and passenger car registrations from Europe are the top economic news due on Wednesday.
At 2.00 am ET, the Office for National Statistics is set to release UK consumer prices for December. Inflation is forecast to ease to 10.5 percent from 10.7 percent in November.
In the meantime, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association is scheduled to issue new car registrations data for December.
At 4.30 am ET, UK house price data is due from ONS.
Half an hour later, Eurostat publishes euro area final consumer prices for December. The preliminary estimates showed that inflation eased to 9.2 percent from 10.1 percent in November. The statistical office is set to confirm the flash estimate.

Downturn In UK Construction Activity Deepens
The UK construction sector downturn deepened in July as volumes of work carried out across all sectors decreased markedly, survey results from S&P Global showed on Wednesday. The headline construction Purchasing Managers' Index fell to 44.3 in July from 48.8 in June. The score signaled the sharpest contraction since May 2020.

German Factory Orders Log Unexpected Fall
Germany's factory orders declined unexpectedly in June on a notable fall in demand from non-EU countries, figures from Destatis revealed on Wednesday. New orders fell 1.0 percent month-on-month in June, confounding expectations for an increase of 1.0 percent. The fall was also sharper than the 0.8 percent decrease posted in May. When large-scale orders are excluded, new orders were 0.5 percent.
