Like the right amount of fear will keep us away from overtrading and the right amount of excitement and optimism will help us to keep on trading. It is about finding a balance and blocking thoughts and feelings that seem irrational or overwhelming.

I think we don’t need to panic about our account drawdown as long as we are keeping them in limits based on our risk appetite. It also depends on how much loss is acceptable to you. There is nothing to worry about as long as you have a well-defined strategy and risk management plan along with confidence in your skills as a trader. Being scared of losses would only limit your profits and stress you out. We must accept our wins and losses alike with a professional approach.

Trading psychology for me is all about learning to manage the emotions that I experience during a trade. It is normal to feel fear, stress and anxiety but I make sure to not let them take control of my mind interfering with the decision making process. We won’t be able to fully eliminate these emotions as we are humans but we can surely prioritise logic to make rational decisions as a trader.

I think the dark side is reserved for those who don’t seek knowledge and only waste their time, energy and money looking for shortcuts to success in forex. Those who lack knowledge and skills will always remain in the dark and may even become the victim of scams. I would say new traders should enter the market with long term goals rather than chasing profits without a proper plan. It does take time for a beginner to develop skills and experience surely teaches us any valuable lessons over time. Learning should come before earning and that will make you profitable in the long run.

No one is forcing you to demo trade if you don’t want to. But it would be a risk to trade without practising on a demo account as you may not know how to proceed further with live trading. So, demo trade for a while and when you think you are ready for live trading, go ahead with it.

Staying patient shouldn’t mean that you sit on your hands. You must keep analysing the market but be fine if you make a wrong move. Losses are possible but trying to recover them out of anger can make you a revenge trader which is not a good thing.
