@togr I don't know why it's so hard for people to see what's right in front of them. Just look at defence spending for the last 24 months. Tells you everything you need to know. Lucky there is hope as decentralisation slowly takes hold on banking and government. If the Pirate party does take Iceland, we will have the first precedent of a technology driven true democracy. Why is it scandalous ? I have offshore companies and banks accounts. Not breaking any laws or even trying to avoid tax. For something to be correlated you need two data sets. The correlation is one figure, sure. But you still need to compare something to something. In fx the data set is made up by 2 pairs. So to compare 1 set to another you are using four currencies.Easier way to see that in action is to open a Oanda demo account, do the trades and look at the exposure tab. MT only recently added that to their platform, but go do the trades and see what happens to exposure. The devil is in the details with fx. This is a fundamental principle of fx. It needs to be understood if you're going to trade fx.

What you are trading is one data set against another. Regardless of what the data comprises of. Wether it's a positive correlation or a negative correlation is irrelevant. What you have is a calculable relationship. A strategy for example would be to look for a break down in correlation on the short term and then trade towards the long term correlation. EurUsd vs GbpUsd for example. They're normally about 80% correlated on weekly. Apparently Wine is coming to Android sometime soon, but I don't really understand why you'd want to run a EA on a phone. Simply put it in the cloud or on a server and if you really have to access it use a remote desktop. Several of those available for Android.

Then you only have one option.It's Oanda, it's the REST API with a language and operating system of your choice.You'll need a development machine, I know nothing about the Raspberry, but you'll need something that can handle the compiler of your choice. Maybe you don't even need that, I don't really know what the cloud can do but I'd imagine you could get a Linux environment to work from for next to nothing in the cloud. I went Java, but I'd say as a rule of thumb if a broker offers a Java API you'll find C++ and FIX API's as well. Your better brokers will always have API's and I'd go as far as to say if you really are going to do this professionally then you have to use enterprise grade code. Can't do that in MT as you're in someone else's framework. MT is ok to get you going, but once you've cut your teeth it's time to move onto something a bit faster and more professional. LMAX is very expensive to hold over night. But they have a very good reputation and they are fast. I don't use them because of minimum trade sizes and roll over cost. You still have a minimum 1000 unit trade sizes where on O it's 1 unit.The difference in compounding is massive over time. If I can get a extra $1 in there I do. You will not believe how that ads up over a decade or so. There's also a Oanda UK branch which I trade with, FCA regulated. I don't think LMAX is any faster than Oanda though. I know a few guys who looked at LMAX and they stuck with Oanda in the end.And y...

Why the need for speed mate ? Unless you're doing HFT, which you're not or you wouldn't be asking, MT on Windows is fast enough for most trading. Using JAVA and/or API's will narrow down your choice of brokers a lot. Oanda did a REST API recently which is language agnostic, can use anything you're currently using, long as you can generate htpp links via the code. I'm on Oanda's JAVA API, they also have FIX and C++ versions, it's probabaly the best in the market at the moment. I'll be migrating to REST API using JAVA eventually I guess, soon as their functio...

If you're running MT you shouldn't expect speed of any kind on any OS. MT is a tractor, not a sports car. Very good for cutting your teeth on, but hardly going to set any speed records. I would use Windows for MT as it was designed for it. But any latency issues (over and above MT's built in issues) on other OS's would so small it's irrelevant. If you want speed you'll have to use an API, a proper language and the FIX protocol.

@johnnapiranha Considering we're on a giant rock hurtling through space at 67 000 mph I think it's quite reasonable to assume the sky is always falling, mostly towards the sun, which we keep missing. Thank heavens for that or we'd be unable to trade fx and argue with strangers on the internet due to the intense heat that would be the most obvious consequence of a sky that's about to stop falling.

We saw this in 2008. Oil crash followed by dollar strength followed by....oh dear...To me this looks just like 2008. Either way doesn't matter. We don't really have to know what's driving the moves to trade them.

The Telegraph seems to disagree with you, and so does a host of other market commentators, but that is what makes a market, different opinions. Most likely were both wrong. And that's why I said it doesn't really matter.And I've been at this 14 years. I don't know how many hours that is, but I think it should cover it. You might also want to consider the US is in fact going to negative rates like the rest of the world. There's going to be no rate hike, in my humble opinion, quite the contrary.

They don't work. Anything with volume data in it is out anyway as there are no accurate volumes in fx, all the volumes you get is your brokers tick counts. On that technicality alone half of them will give you the wrong information. Find another way. I did.
