Hi everyone,
As we all know already, it's better to be flat before important news, and sometime based on your trading style, it's even better to not trade during days that will have important news release.
I'm trading mainly USD pairs, so I look at the economic calendar for everything marked as high and i make sure that i m flat before the impact.
The problem with that is that we have a lot of days like this and I sometime (often) stopped trading for nothing because the news release didn't trigger any significant move.
My question is: concerning USD, which news tend to shake volatility the most? Any article on internet or something that cover all stuff related to news?

News really play a great role in deciding the outcome of your trades, this is why you can never forsake your fundamental analysis. I remember when I started trading and was using a simple moving average to watch out for trend reversals to mark my entry and exit points as well as locating my support and resistance levels in a GBPUSD H1 chart and a major news like the non farm payroll comes up and if for example of the trend has been a downtrend before the news and as the news hit the market, the moving average moves up, I will mistaken to think that this is the beginning of a new trend and I rush to open a position and sadly it turns out to be a false signal as it was just because of the news and the downtrend continues. But I learnt an improved version of this strategy at https://www.profiforex.com/education/professional/ ,and since then I have making less mistakes and making more profits.

There is many strategies working very well and most of them if you go in low time frames like h1 or under, news will mess up everything. So instead of adding on top of those working strategies another strategy just for news days, I prefer to switch off my EA during news and everything remain fine.
This post is a bit old now but, the conclusion I made concerning the subject is that I ALWAYS strictly switch off my EA/strategies during important news days (6 hours before until 6 hours after the impact) in order to be flat or exposure neutralized even if it has been done for nothing. There is no way to predict the intensity so it’s better to stay away.
I was often frustrated when you have months where 25% of the time you cannot trade because of news but in fact in the long run it’s better to avoid trading at all cost every time you have important events and there is many pairs to trade….
