Bob, I agree with you on human condition but it increasingly looks that tiger cannot change stripes. Most probably we are what we are and majority cannot change. I also wonder, even if there is one language, still, people who would learn it as a second language would be coming form different cultural background. Trader can be asked to repeat performance for more than one month... by adhering to all parameters and rules. In controlled environment with all positions closed by certain times and daily loss limits it is hard to make. I doubt many of those who show their trading records connected to myfxbook can trade within these parameters or at all. It takes enormous discipline and sound basics to operate within these parameters. i know this. Cause I am operating in this environment myself and see live traders getting funded based upon this.

You completely missing the point. What every potential investor needs to look for is not how trader traded years ago for 1-2-3 years all by himself but how trader can operate withing certain prearranged risk parameters with rules agreed upon. How trader is mentally stable and can produce within those parameters where down side is being rigorously controlled and investor can see it day by day.People are being recruited this way into trading companies by the way. If trader is disciplined, consistent and can produce what the problem?If one wants riskless investment he should be looking elsewhere ...

I do not like FX markets. Exactly for a reason why some like it. IMHO it is a totally artificial environment and one cannot get for example sudden USD scarcity :) But EA might work better for FX and longer to tell us about how they trade before they crash. Grids and so forth cannot be run on say futures. I have it horrifying to even contemplate what would happen...I do see that large percentage of futures contracts is also being traded by algos. Thanks God I started trading when they already were operating so that I could see them as part of the picture.However, i wonder how markets would look...

To resolve this issues I believe the only solution would be to ask trader looking for funding to go on controlled demo account and trade for say 1 month with prospective investor following all trades and trader's behavior during this 1 month. Max daily and overall monthly loss should be agreed upon. Rules must be set and agreed upon and then prospective investor can see how disciplined and good trader is. Bob, you must be wealthy guy. Capital must be substantial in order to be satisfied with 2%. As I am of hungry type I definitely need more. Especially that I have no funds to speak about of and been trading TST Combines to get funded. To get funded with say $50K account trader has to make 7% in 20 trading days with lots of limit reducing parameters and rules not to be broken and also trailing equity stop to add some spice. I did made it this month. 7% on $50K with $60 max DD but was not able to meet target for some 6 months which says it is not easy to make with proper risk control and size. I ...

I am not trading FX but here is my input. No EA can be successful long term left as is. Market changes and it might change on a dime within just 1 day. This means any EA should be constantly monitored and market also monitored on daily basis. What exactly EA is? It is crunches for those who either cannot master self control aka emotions or those who do not want to spend time trading. I for example trade and check every trading day after the market close, then every week I test the whole week back ward , and so I do with a month and occasionally just take any month in the past and test it agai...

Stop limit orders is what I am mostly using but not for FX. With this way of execution you will never miss the best trades. It also depends what you are trading. Overall it is good. Limit orders are not always filled and in many markets when price does come back it is rotten tomatoes ;)

Kiwa, making 500% in one week shows you have no idea of what risk control is. To make 500% in one week you must be very over leveraged and put heavy bets. I have no doubt you have blown many accounts too. I am not trading FX so I do not have account connected to myfxbook.

Ridiculous thread. This Kiwa guy obviously has no clue about risk control. 500%? even if it were true no investor should approach him even with extremely long stick. It doe snot matter even if he makes quadrillion % it is only 100% down and account is blown. I noticed huge volatility on his accounts and new accounts being started all the time. My proposal to him would be to go and try himself at TST-topstep trader Combine where traders are evaluated according to strict risk control parameters. It would immediately put things in perspective. it is what and how much one can lose that matters not...

JC, you can run but you cannot hide ;) I mean your stop orders. It is not going to help thinking you will have such a high hit rate that it will cover your loses. The math is not there. If you cannot have bigger winners than losers on average that gonna hurt. Firstly no one knows what market will do next moment. So, you can have a huge losing streaks...with larger stops then take profits you will not be able to recover. High probability trade at one time turns into serial loser next time and then back to high probability winner again with time. Hence, plan should be followed and not to be chan...

JC, r:r is there for a reason, small or big TF it does not matter if one risk 40 pips to make 20 over time he is going to lose. again, everything depends upon strategy. r:r is not taken form the heaven but arrives through back testing of probabilities. one can set r:r 5:1 and lose his shirt.
