Sharpe ratio options

It would be absolutely fantastic if one had some options with how the sharpe ratio is calculated.since myfxbook calculates the sharpe ratio as the annualized average daily rate of return, which in my opinion suits the intraday trader and discriminates against longer term traders.an idea on how the sharpe ratio could be displayed on ones myfxbook page, could be as simple asfor daily (D) Sharpe ratio:for weekly (W) Sharpe ratio:for monthly (M) Sharpe ratio:So people viewing myfxbook pages would know at which rate the ratio is being calculated at...

No stop loss is always a red flag in my mind.. and also seeing the yellow (equity) line under the red (growth) line does not increase my confidence either. The first thing that pops in my mind when I see a high win rate is that the person holds on to his losers.. and hints at a psychological problem that he cannot take losses well, and thus does not cut them short.Another thing that is a turn off for me is seeing the average loss both in the pips and monetary comparisons being larger than the average winner (which hints he does not let his winners run). * also the worst trade being almos...

ya, its a full time job tweaking it constantly as market conditions change. You're better off trading manually imo.

100 pip SL for 3 pip TP? 3 pips around 0.60% of your equity? that means you're risking around 20% of your account on each trade, Thats a lot dude.. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

have you heard of position sizing my friend? Really doesn't matter how big your account is. Risk can stay virtually the same percentage wise.. given that you use a stop lossIn reality success in the forex market is not based on your account balance , but the ability to trade that account balance with minimal risk whilst being long term profitable. After a quick peek at yourfxbook again, seeing how patient you are with your losing trades worries me. The majority of your trades are within the 8 day mark which is fine, but what stands out is the fact that of the 30 trades which you hold longer...

Its a shame you feel that way about stop losses.. They're a great tool if you know how to use them.http://www.myfxbook.com/members/MANGFX/mosab-obeed/205839on oct 03 2011, you were holding on to a floating loss equivalent to 33% of your account. So when exactly do you draw your line and decide to accept a loss like a good trader?

the yellow line should be above the red line =) You should be holding on to winners instead of losers. And not to mention use a stop loss :)

Good question. It's an experiment, but I named it "fooling around without position sizing" so people wouldn't take it seriously. But I am pending opening an account with ducascopy. That will be my main account. With max 0.50% risk on each trade. Strict risk profile.

Like I mentioned earlier in this thread. That account is what its name suggests "fooling around without position sizing" that is not my usual 0.5% max risk.

I think it all boils down to a few elements that need to be in order. Money management, risk management, trading psychology and the trading analysis. If a trader doesnt develope one of the elements properly, It could be fatal for his account.naah, well perhaps "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" but mostly for its entertaining value, but I guess some lessons can be learned from it. I learned to trade through studying price action and technical analysis since february last year. I began studying 24/7 and after 2 monrhs (beginning of april) I joined the james16group. I specialized in a...

I concur with halionfx. 40% or more per year is very good. Steady 3-4% monthly is outstanding performance, if the risk profile is appropriate.

well, in my first post I described what makes up in short, my trading style and methodology. As you see there, there are a few points stressed, like. Money management, risk management, trading psychology and technical analysis. These are all elements that make up my trading system.So. Could you please be more specific :) I don't feel like writing a book on this thread :)
