You are correct, and this is why we do not work with accounts under $5,000. We believe that $5,000 is safe at the 1:1 ratio base order sizing rule, and we believe that the worst-case-scenario we would see when trading any size account over $5,000 at the 1:1 MM if everything goes against open positions is around 25% or so. There is no possibility of immediate account wipe-out at 1:1 order sizing, but there is always a chance that the account could take a hit, with any size account. We believe that up to 1:2 can be feasible under certain conditions, but when taking such huge returns the inheren...

Logging Update:We have just completed 8 full weeks of trading with Volatility Trader on a live $30k account. Below are the "per week details" using the new logging format. The log will no longer be released on a near-daily basis, as things are getting too busy with the growing number of managed accounts and related activities related to our service. Note that we will not be including open floating trades in the weekly trading statistics but instead will simply report the open floating pips and number of trades in order to maintain full disclosure of VT performance.System Update:We...

Another busy day! Will be glad when things slow down a little... (And when cable drops a lot!)Abbreviated log as of 23:50 MDT 2010.04.26:34 trading days: 124.7 pips per trading day5392.9 pips closed-530.8 pips open-----------------------4862.1 pips netFYI, the new plan is to produce the pips log weekly (daily is much too much work) and to show pips closed each week, Wednesday -> Tuesday, and to provide a weekly average of closed trades only. Will continue to show the open pips float for reference purposes but will not keep tallying that into the numbers as the math is too time consuming....

Abbreviated log today as it's been a long and busy day, especially with my right-hand-man down south of the border...April 23/10 log: 5322.0 pips in 38 trading days = 140.1 pips / trading dayThe system did not close any positions today. We still have the same number of closed trades and closed pips as yesterday and currently have an open float of -122.0 pips, 9 open trades. (We added a couple of Asian market trades -- one AudUsd position and one UsdJpy position.)It looks like cable will likely gap up on Sunday afternoon but hopefully we will get a fade back to today's pricing.t.

Good point, but better than even odds systems have the same flaw. Yes, you can go longer than the even odds coin toss example, but ultimately it's the exact same problem just delayed a little.

No, I've never personally gotten toasted by a martingale, but I've seen plenty of examples where other people have.I don't know how "precious" my thinking is, but from what I've read about martingales and probability analysis, they seem to be mathematically guaranteed to fail unless you have infinite finances. For example, using a simple coin toss with 50-50 odds, it's surprising how probable a string of bad bets actually is that would be sufficient to wipe-out the account of anyone with less then VERY deep pockets.Quoting from Wikipedia:"As an example, cons...

Yes, the Volatility Trader system hedges extensively for safety. That said, it does try to go heavier on the winning side and to also retain the alternate side in order to cash in on it too if possible. All managed accounts mirror our trades exactly, with money management tailored to client needs.

Sorry bud... I think martingale's are ugly."Ugly Megan"? 😀(No offense intended... perhaps in the right hands they might work. Trouble is it seems that "the right hands" are few and far between...)

Except our Volatility Trader, of course...It looks like your EA has done 830 trades for a total of 855.6 pips.On the other hand, Volatility Trader has done 220 trades for a total of 5169.0 pips, in half the time.So perhaps you're right... our EAs are not even close. 😉

Hmmm... 50% of net profits?!?! I suppose if you're only doing 2000 pips per month you need to take that much from your clients! 😀
Why people generally prefer to buy EA instead of managed account service?

1. Does not make any sense to me. It's conceivable there are circumstances I don't understand that would motivate an EA coder to sell instead of just trade or manage, but I don't know why. My gut instinct tells me that cheap EAs must (almost?) always be a scam, and expensive EAs are probably not much better.2. People spend money on EAs because they believe that money will fix their lives and that free money is just around the corner. It's just a matter of finding the "right" EA...3. Perhaps if people don't want the managed services it is because there is a prob...

Toying with the idea of entering. It's not like I'm looking for more things to do, and I hate demo accounts, but it could be fun... I guess I would want to know too about:1. Hedging allowed?2. Leverage allowed?3. Any MM restrictions?4. Can winning funds stay offshore of US account?5. If the start balance is only $1k, what's the minimum allowed trade? These things might be in the fine print somewhere already. Frankly I haven't had time to look for the answers...t.ps - I'm impressed that FXDD responded to the 100 standard lots complaint and made it 1/10th as restrictive. T...
