I normally ignore spam, till I received the e-mail below. I hope like hell you're not selling e-mail addresses. I have to wonder, how did they know that I'm into fx ? Where the **** did they get my e-mail from...?http://www.myfxbook.com/files/theHand/Screen_Shot_20151001_at_3.55.34_PM.png

I think you're missing "else"...if(CheckLongM5(pair,5,d)) { bpat++; find++; } else { if(CheckShortM5(pair,5,d)) { spat++; find++; }The way you have it both conditions can be true at the same time. With the else you can have only one condition true at a time. Print your values everywhere. See what they return after each action.

I ignore news completely. It's a double guess. First you have to guess the result, then the markets reaction to the news. It comes with wide spreads and whips. I've got a few safeguards in my code, but mostly that's around wide spreads in general. For a decent method news is irrelevant.

Ja, some spectacularly bad answers here. For most MT brokers around you need about $100k if you intend to have any chance to make it at all. The reason is very simple. Regardless of how much leverage you have, most of them have 0.01 lots minimum trade size on 100 000 unit size lots. The brokers that do offer small lot sizes are for the most part not reputable with one notable exception. To put that into perspective, the value of your trade is : current price x lot size x lotsSo in EurUsd at current prices 1.09 x 0.01 x 100 000 = 1090. If your account has $200 in it, or $500 or even $1000 your ...

I don't think a multi year trend can be called a dead cat bounce. Trillions that need to be unwound here. QE started in 2008 still going. A heck of a lot of time to print money.

I don't really know what the exact mechanism is. It doesn't matter. It's a bit like driving a modern Merc. I know there's internal combustion at work, but I don't know what all the other stuff bolted onto the engine does. Nor do I need to know. I just need to handle the things that keeps it going, like put juice when its empty. My point is fx will do what it wants to do for reasons that might not be apparent at first. Commen wisdom is you look at the fundamentals and then trade technically in that direction. Well that doesn't work, becuase of technical moves like this, ...

I don't mean technical in terms of this indicator or that indicator. There's an issue in the market that needs to be resolved before the fundamentals can come back into play. In this case it appears that a lot of dollars were borrowed (nearly for free) and used in say emerging markets (which would require selling dollars to convert to local currency). As the dollar gets stronger fx losses occur on whatever the money was used for. So the investment needs to be closed and dollars bought to return the free money. Stronger the dollar gets the more this happens and you end up with what we ...

@DrVodka This is probably the reason why dollar is so strong. It's technical, has nothing to do with long term outlook. It's the fx equivalent of a short squeeze. I wouldn't bet against it. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-09-03/global-debt-deleveraging-it-our-doorstep

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-31/russian-military-forces-arrive-syria-set-forward-operating-base-near-damascusAs I mentioned previously, there's a strong motive to have this conflict, which doesn't have anything to do with Syria.

It's almost. I'm just spreading the word so people understand. There's nothing normal about what's happening in the world at this point. We're living through history here....I don't even know if there will be a single big event. I hope not.

I shouldn't say US. I should really say the small group of elitists that owns the US. Most Americans I know are really nice people. But there's clearly a problem in Washington. I think Dr. Craig Roberts can elaborate on that much better than I possibly could. I suggest reading a few of his blog posts.

I agree to a point. In normal circumstances I'd say the same thing. But don't forget the Great Depression was followed by a world war. And our next world war is our last. No one will gain from it. I don't know how leveraged those banks were in 1929, but I do know right now if one of the big banks go they all go, ATM stops working. Some of them have OTC exposure which is more than the GDP of some countries. It's also hard to ignore commentators like Dr. Paul Craig Roberts: http://www.paulcraigroberts.orgHe can say it much better than I can. This time is really different. We have...

Another thing to note is that trends aren't the norm. Mean return is. I think over time the losing system here will actually perform better. The trending system is more an insurance than day-to-day bread money.

The trending system is by far out banking the losing mean return. My net there was 30%. These accounts are relatively new though, so they're still running without half the thing implemented. What I really need is to kick out the mean return at what looks like -4%, maybe -5%, then have a cooling off period or at the very least wait for the return on the trend following system to diminish. Fairly easy to track. Just gain / time. Low figure means restart Mean Return. But of course I won't know that unless I run it like this first. Have to guess the parameters first and then zone in on spe...

@Rainfall0204 Nothing can help me with punctuation and spelling. Not even Apple. But it's still substantially better than yours...! At least I try. I don't want an apocalypse at all. Just a peaceful next 40 years or so, however far I get. Sadly it appears something else has been written into our future by the universe. You're going to get to enjoy this with me, wether you like it or not...
