Totally agree with this one. I hate seeing new traders get hyped thinking they've found some magic answer that requires little to no effort on their part. A lot of people are desperate to give themselves a better life and they listen to these false promises, lose their money, and give up immediately It's rather depressing and it's shocking to see how many fall for it.

The most important things that a trader must take into consideration are enough learning and practice, discipline, patience and consistency, emotional control, being confident in your own trading strategies, and learning and relearning and applying is the key.

learning is important but in spite of having much learning approach the result of trading can be useless if there is no regular level of practice.

Very true this also has to be done on a live account after the appropriate practice on a demo account. Its hard to follow each step but one is as important as another

The most important thing that I learnt as a trader was to never believe that you know everything about the market. The forex market has its own way of letting people know that it is stronger than anyone. You must be able to keep your risks low until you can take big losses. After all, making up your mind is more difficult than actually trading.

5 things I have learned are
1.Losing trades are simply a part of the process of finding profitable trades.
2.Stop-loss orders are a good way to prevent losses.
3.The results of your last trade should not affect your next trade.
4.Emotions will be involved with trading.
5.The forex market is so volatile, that it must be carefully monitored.

One of the most significant things I have learned in the forex market is that you cannot survive for long in the market if you keep following what others say, and others’ do. Copying the strategy of an experienced trader may seem like a wise move because ‘they are experienced, what mistakes can they make’. But experienced traders approach the market differently from beginners, their risk approach and planning is different. Hence, beginners should follow their own strategy.

Anyone who wishes to make money through trading must be ready to take losses because that has to be the toughest part about trading. No matter how hard you try, you will have to deal with the losses and they may sometimes go beyond your affordability. So, better decide your risk appetite and trade accordingly.

The most important lesson that I have learnt in my forex trading career is that you have to keep moving with the market. If you don’t keep an eye on how the market is behaving, it will eliminate you even before you will find it out.

This was an insightful post from an experienced trader. I totally agree with your take on readymade strategies. We have to devise our own strategy based on our trading goals and risk tolerance. The success of any strategy depends on our skills and risk management only.

Certainly directed learning and study are important but there are certain universal factors that are the same for everyone regardless of how you end up trading. But things to consider are what will your time availability likely be when trading and therefore what will this mean for the trading style I will end up pursuing in the near term, what is my appetite for risk, have I got a relatively stable income before starting etc. The on from there factors like how am I reading price, what are entry signals I need to look for. Where would I put my SLs and TPs in different trade scenarios.
