Which is better among the two? As I have read in this article: https://fm-fx.org/short-and-long-selling/ long and short positions are used by investors to achieve different results. How about you what is the best startegy you have used?

Trading is about predicting future
At the moment you place trade you predict market is going up or down.
I would say such prediction (like weather forecast) would be more successful for near future so short term.
Also I do remember almost all major bank analyst did predict EURUSD will go to parity previous year and nowadays it is close to 1.1.
So these analyst were completely wrong in long term

The answer of that question is not just with couple of words. :)
This is more or less depending from your trading style and your personality. There are traders which are more successfully in long term trading and in opposite. To understand what will work best for you, you will need to get experience and you will realize what is better for you and what is most profitable to you.
Bottom line: You have to understand this by yourself. :)

If you have good trading knowledge and skilled, then you would be able to make handsome money even though you are a part time Forex trader! But it’s true, full time trading is relatively flexible; full time traders can utilize maximum good trading opportunities! By the way, pending order strategy is a good solution for the part time traders!

That’s the strategy (pending order) that I am using right now as a part time Forex trader! Here I am doing my trading based on Price Action and I identify my logical points based on S/R levels! So, when I get a tradable S/R level, then set a pending order in order to the market context!

Fact is that stuff changes over time, hench predicting what the future will hold for a long time is near impossible. I'd cap it on 2-3 months. Talking about say the dollar index in say 2019 is a pure guessing game.
My prediction for EURUSD for 2017 was never break above 1.10 (but also not reach parity). It failed in mid May, not even a half year in. Because stuff changes throughout the year. Luckily I don't trade long term.

Please select your trading style based on your own trading performance! If you are comfortable with long time, then go for it! There have so many successful traders who are trading with short term trading style! So, no problem at all with any trading style.
