Hi,

like the spread comparison.
an order execution comparison table will be incredible for us.

we can'T test all the brokers...
but a table updated every hour for example could be good.

I talk here about real order execution speed from the time MT4 do the ordersend command until it was accepted and confirmed by the broker.
So this include network latency.

so... if the latency is also displayed, we can have a excellent idea of the real order execution speed

for example:
open order takes 600ms with a latency of 80ms; so the broker execution speed is between 440ms and 520ms

if we have the latest values, and average values for a week or a month, we can find which one has a good stability.

willgart, this is actually impossible to track as you would need to constantly open and close real trades in order to measure these metrics. Moreover, those metrics will most likely increase (for the worse) as the position size increases, so you would have to open trades with different position sizes across all brokers in order to collect the complete data.

at least opening buy stop and other positions like this could be good.
I'm doing this by placing some orders and modifying them multiple times.

another way to accomplish this is to provide a section in the site where the myfxbook users can share this. (you can provide an EA doing the test and collect the results in your site, so the users who want to participate, just run the EA...)

maybe you have some ressources / stats to share talking about order execution speed?

Are you getting the same execution times with orders and trades? Those are most likely to differ, which would miss the point of measuring execution times.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Even order execution times would be fine, and could be easily effected. Trade execution times could be reportable and compiled into a rough average if you could harvest sufficient data across multiple live accounts that voluntarily submit it.

This is rather a pointless thing to track. Why would you want to track all existing brokers?

To be able to compare good and bad brokers.
when you scalp you need a fast broker and a low spread.
a slow execution can results in catastrophic results.
you'll suffer requotes, closing a trade is a big problem, even moving the SL/TP is slow. and with an EA which can execute a lot of trades, this become just unmanageable.
I saw execution time of 10 seconds... imagine when the EA open 6 trades on different currencies and try to move the SL of over trades... this takes minutes to be completed!!!
not good at all.

when you trade at the day level its less important.

Again moot. Since the traders' location matter as well. Whether they are using VPS located 2 yards away from broker or 10,000 miles away. If you used a VPS cross connected to your broker's server in the same city or even the same room, none of that would matter.

And what you listed are not indications that the brokers are bad or good.

It's easy to control for geographic location; look at the execution speed for the fastest available VPS. This is the best reflection of the broker's actual execution speed, eliminating other confounding factors.

That is the point. Useless to compile data of traders all over the world using various methods to trade. Either they are using dialup on their pc or on cross connected VPS located 5 yards away from their broker's servers. Also, if latency was of importance, wouldn't you just compare the ECN brokers & VPS providers who provide NY4 located servers? And brokers that has their servers in NY4 as well?

Or just bite the bullet, spend the money to use the top ECN broker & the best VPS service? If the broker is top notch, they will have their servers in NY4. And if VPS company is top notch, their servers will be NY4 as well. Beeksfxvps and their cross connect partner brokers is the best bet.

Getting the execution times of many different accounts after controlling for latency would be preferable if MyFxBook was able to measure and thus discount it, as this allows the most accurate picture of true execution speeds (discounting latency which has much more to do with server proximity and connection type than broker performance) over time.

Alternately, I would be happy with data reported from a couple of minimum latency VPN connections which effectively eliminates latency as a major factor; while this isn't as thorough and representative, it is certainly better than nothing.

The key thing is to measure and collate true execution times for comparison so as to better monitor overall broker quality, and it can be done, one way or another.

Most of MT4 brokers cheating with prices, slippage, order execution time etc.
If your system is sensitive to this you need to use better trading platforms than Metatrader.
I have been testing lot of MT4 brokers more than a year. Sucks.
cTrader/cAlgo, Ninjatrader much reliable and better for algo trading/scalping.
