When it comes to commodities supplied for personal consumption, capital investment, government, and export, the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand is used in the United States to measure price changes. It is composed of six main price indexes: final demand goods (which account for 33% of the total weight), which includes food and energy, final demand trade services (20%), final demand transportation and warehousing services (4%), final demand services less trade, transportation, and warehousing (41%), final demand construction (2%), and overall final demand (which accounts for 2% of the total weight).

U.S. Wholesale Inventories Inch Up Less Than Expected In June
Wholesale inventories in the U.S. crept up by less than expected in the month of June, according to a report released by the Commerce Department on Thursday. The Commerce Department said wholesale inventories inched up by 0.1 percent in June after falling by 0.3 percent in May. Economists had expected wholesale inventories to rise by 0.2 percent, in line with the preliminary estimate.

U.S. Labor Productivity Rebounds Roughly In Line With Estimates In Q2
Labor productivity in the U.S. saw a significant rebound in the second quarter of 2025, according to preliminary data released by the Labor Department on Thursday. The report said labor productivity shot up by 2.4 percent in the second quarter after tumbling by a downwardly revised 1.8 percent in the first quarter.

U.S. Jobless Claims Rise More Than Expected To 226,000
A report released by the Labor Department on Thursday showed first-time claims for U.S. unemployment benefits rose by more than expected in the week ended August 2nd. The Labor Department said initial jobless claims climbed to 226,000, an increase of 7,000 from the previous week's revised level of 219,000.
