Swiss Market Ends Lower For 8th Straight Day

(RTTNews) - The Switzerland stock market ended weak on Monday, losing ground for the eighth consecutive day, as investors stayed wary of making significant moves.

Worries about the outlook for interest rates and global economic growth, and concerns about geopolitical tensions weighed on the market.

The benchmark SMI, which was up in positive territory for a brief while at the start, drifted lower and dropped to 10,251.33, but recovered gradually to eventually settle at 10,331.92, down 16.68 points or 0.16%.

Lonza Group declined 1.59%. Givaudan, Nestle, Roche Holding, Skia, Swisscom, Swiss Re and Novartis lost 0.4 to 1%.

Kuehne & Nagel climbed about 1.75%. ABB, Holcim, Sonova and Richemont gained 0.8 to 1.2%. Geberit, UBS Group, Partners Group, Swiss Life Holding and Logitech advanced 0.4 to 0.7%.

In the Mid Price Index, Barry Callebaut, Tecan Group, Meyer Burger Tech and Galenica Sante lost 0.9 to 1.1%. Sandoz ended 0.7% down.

VAT Group surged 2.15%. Dufry, Straumann Holding, PSP Swiss Property, SIG Combibloc, Schindler Holding and Julius Baer gained 0.8 to 1.2%.
