@phenomenon90, US avg hourly earnings -0.2% vs +0.2% exp The headline figure in US jobs report was good but if you dig a bit deeper US avg hourly earnings was down. This means less money in everyday peoples pocket a headwind for US economy.Other factors would be strong $ buying all week meaning most of the market would be short AUDUSD meaning retail short selling too low & market due a squeeze higher to shake out weaker shorts.Also the big psychological level of 0.80 was close this week, fresh buyers waiting here when it held. O I nearly forgot, they will also post a load of MT4 charts & show results from Demo accounts as though they are some sort of trading God. If anyone dares question them or their methods they will get defensive & try to discredit them as it blows their pubic facade they have built up & ruins their ego away which they hate. Good points @mavericks Another thing that newbies do is after a year or two they might have limited success with a pattern they spot. They think they are the first & only one to spot this particular pattern or Indicator such as & Triangle, wedge, H&S double top, pin bar, fibs, MA's Harmonics , M's W's etc & believe they have found tradings holy grail.The patterns they find are often age old patterns like an Double top or Elliot wave correction but they give them new names like M & W and believe they are real smart for spotting it. Exactly Vontogr, margin here is very important. It's Important to use low leverage & just add small positions when building from here. It's probably a good example of the original concept of this thread being newbie errors. They might over leverage here & get squeezed out.

@togr I have been building a long since 1.19 I have added @ 118.50 & will again @ 118, 117 etc. I never try to pick the exact low but scale in with up to 10-15 fills to get a better average. Here at 9 year lows gives good vale for me in a long. It might not be a long term turning point but a short squeeze to 1.21 to 1.22 at least to flush out weaker shorts will be on the cards.

@Smokey yep agree on your points, They lack discipline, they do not study first and they do not stick to the plan.I would also add they over leverage / take to large positions & do not keep it simple or consistent.https://www.myfxbook.com/members/AndrewButton/andyb/1113440 my account, only just started here so not much to view yet.

Thanks Growthera, appreciate the reply. I see your point regarding not over leveraging, I have been working on this to refine my method over the past few months. Do you use hard stops on your swing/day trades? Is (Robust return) automated or discretional by nature?I currently work of an 80% discretional method but am looking at ways to increase the 20% automation. Thanks Growthera, I see what you mean about making sure the total leverage per position does not exceed your own pre set risk control levels. This is the tricky part I toy with also. I am interested to see if you use hard stops? & Is Robust return automated or discretional. Hi Growthera, I am Interested to know if you are ever long & short the same pair at the same time with that swing strategy? Obviously you would be more heavily weighted either (net long or net short) depending on where the market cycle is currently swinging. If you get my meaning - I'm assuming you will be buying at swing lows & selling at swing highs.I ask as I use a swing strategy that also has a day trade (shorter term profit taking element built in).
