As far as I know, 75% of the trading done by institutional traders is done automatically. The traders just overview the EAs and change the algorithm parameters depending on market conditions, sentiment, economic calendar, etc. And it should be like that, when you trade large volumes you need EAs to keep you mentally healthy. Imagine opening each position with a volume of 100 lots for 8 hours/day every day.....It's just impossible not to go down emotion avenue. Personally I trade manual because I couldn't find a good and stable EA yet and, I have to admit, I'm a bit addicted to the...

Hi I would advise you never to expose more than 10% of balance for margin (this is how you can determine the trading volumes) and 5% of the balance for risk, with a risk-reward ratio of at least 1:1.5. A set of rules should be a basic condition for you as a trader. After this look at the chart, draw some trend channels, some levels, resistance and support trend lines, use an indicator to look for divergences, etc. If all conditions are met, then and only then take the trade; otherwise don't. The market will be here tomorrow too, and the day after, also next week, next year, next decade and...
