Monday's high at 1.2615 could be seen as the first technical resistance for the GBP/USD, followed by 1.2680 (Feb. 1 high) and 1.2730 (Dec. 14 high). On the downside, below 1.25 (psychological level), the bearish slide could extend towards 1.2405/10 (50-DMA/100-DMA) and 1.2370 (20-DMA).

The ongoing phase of consolidation is similar to the temporary pauses seen during last February-May and July-September. Recently, the pair rebounded towards the upper bound of the triangle (currently at 1.2610) and has started to retrace. A move towards the triangle support near 1.2155/1.21 looks likely, with the next support at 1.20/1.1918. The weekly channel at 1.2680/1.2780 remains a prominent hurdle.

To the downside, support levels might be located at 111.30 (Mar 29 high), 110.90 (Mar 30 low) and 110.60 (Mar 23 & 24 low). On the upside, resistance might be seen at 111.85 (20-hour moving average), 112.20 (daily high) and 112.45 (Mar 20 low).

Immediate downside support remain at 100-day SMA near 1.3300-1.3295 region and is closely followed by 1.3275-65 strong horizontal support. A decisive break below 1.3275-65 support is likely to drag the pair towards 50-day SMA support near 1.3240-35 region. On the upside, momentum above mid-1.3300s could get extended towards 1.3380 strong horizontal resistance before the pair makes a fresh attempt to conquer the 1.3400 handle.

At the moment EURUSD is gaining 0.11% at 1.0688 and a break above 1.0709 (20-day sma) would target 1.0772 (high Mar.30) en route to 1.0827 (high Mar.29). On the other hand, the immediate support aligns at 1.0669 (low Mar.30) followed by 1.0626 (100-day sma) and finally 1.0597 (low Mar.14).

USD traded mostly sideways after touching a high of 111.31 (target indicated at 111.50 was not met). The undertone still seems positive and another attempt to move towards 111.50 is expected. That said, a sustained break above this level seems unlikely for now (next resistance at 111.85).
