I am aiming at this and somewhat higher at my account. I have no $1 mil and hopefully I will be able to start building my own account up starting March 2011 by adding monthly $ and trading it up. when I can make 5-6% consistently with 1% risk per trade I will be looking for investors as well. It doe snot matter what size of account until it is a really big one. The most important is consistency and risk control.

I think people here should not forget that I am only 2 years and a couple of months in this business at all. I am still learning and improving. same time last year I was struggling to make 1-2% monthly and 2% DD was a horrible thing to me. Now I had up to 7% months, vast majority of my months are profitable and October would have been 10-12% month had I closed my winning positions in full instead of closing half and moving stop to BE.
I have tendency to sabotage my results like it happened in November. What I need to do is to reduce mistakes and also reduce DD in losing months plus improving overall performance.

What is a really big account? In other words, what's the range where size does not matter? From-to?
Elemental question ...

I would say $100 000 - $2 000 000 would not have liquidity problems if to trade with 1% risk per trade and stop of 40-100 pips.

I see, you're talking about the technical side. I meant the mental side - there may be a difference between a cents account and a bigger one. You may meet people who pay more for their car insurance than your entire trading capital. And you may meet ones who spend less on food than your average losing position.

I see, no , no problem on mental side. I know that what matters is %. As long as I follow proper risk control/ money management I will be fine. I trade money I cannot afford to lose for now. Hopefully I will start adding money monthly to my account starting march. knock the wood. I would really love to trade bigger amount of my own money.

I like confident people and I like optimists too. And you sound like a confident optimist. Can't be bad.
I envy you if you have no mental problems - one sane person in this crazy world. 😄
But be careful with serious trading - it can become a 9-5 job easily. And where's the freedom them? 😄

I'd disagree, "now" is always the best time - but yeah, the 80s weren't bad either. Here's a triplet just for you. I have an unbeatable playlist. Paaaaarrrrttttyyyytiiimmmmeeee!!!!!

Idorenyin, Hi, just sent you message.
Have not been here for a long time.
40% annual looks very good. everything depends upon risk.
I have had rough 2 months January and February. it is interesting how change of schedule influences trading. Currently on my way back.

I made an EA wich give me 20% - 30% profit per month with 10% - 15% DD.
is this EA still to risky for me to invest ... ? 😕
Just lower the risk appetite to test it with real money. In any case, yes, that is very risky in terms of a long term trading system, in my opinion.

When this comes to me, usually I would be asking what is the risk appetite.
If you are risking your account at 10% equity, i would say a gain of 2%-5% per trading month is very ideal.
If you are risking your account at 50% equity, i would say a gain of 20-30% per trading month is very ideal.
For investment type of account, I would normally apply a compounding concept to it.
+5%-10% per month is usually my target for exposing 10-15% of my equity to risk.
A consistent +5% a month yields more than +500% in 3 years. That beats most of the other available investment engine in the market !!!!

How about risking 10% to get 20-30% per month :

Its hard to break 10%...even 20% equity, just take a look :)
See other portfolio also.
