before some years ago , demo was the first choice for newcomer, but time has changed right now , beginners kick off live trading instead of demo , but result not actually.

Yep. Many experienced traders still use demo account to try out new methodologies and strategies.

i personally think you should use demo for not more than 6 months. Demo can be used for evaluating how you trade your strategy before jumping into a real trading account but with small lots till you feel confident enough to increase tha account and lot size. Demo will not make you a good trader because emotions are not involved since real money is not used.
Never Stop learning. Ego is for losers.

Basically demo account trading is not realistic enough as you are not using real money and you don't have any emotional connection with the money because its dummy and it dosent matter either you loose the amount but if you have some money in the liv account you have actual emotional connection you have a feel how market goes but still I would suggest to start with demo account because it will build your decision making power once you master in it you can go with real money and that will actually teach you how to handle the risk and your emotions of fear.

Demo is a tricjy thing. I think you should stay demo no more than 2 weeks. It's enough to learn trading and go to cent fx acc. If someone stays more, he risks to miss learning how to control emotions, as demo doesn't involve moral trial...

How long did you spend on a demo account before going into real trading?

I've been trading 3 weeks on demo accounts. It's 2 different accounts because I started a new one to replicate exactly what my real account will be, the other is now a mess about account to play with.

I've got 3 consecutive profitable weeks totalling about 16% with 6% dd. I'm keen to get started, but still making to odd silly mistake. How does my record sound to people who are experienced?
Everyone has a different speed of learning. I took 3 months to practice on demo account and starting trading with my own funds after that.

I agree that emotions cannot be tested while on a demo, but as far as my perspective is concerned, I think 2 weeks of demo trading might not be enough for most of the traders.

The main task of a demo account is to teach you the basics of trading, to make you understand if you have learned how to trade and give you confidence in real trading. There is no definite period for a demo account, as everyone has a different learning curve. The main thing is to feel confident that you are ready to trade, and then you can start real trading.

Demo account generally is more appropriate to ensure the basic fundamental market experience which is very supportive to continue a live account in a proper way , but not appropriate to make sure brokers performance but shortly you can understand how the broker works.

On average, to adapt to trading, I advise trading on a demo account for about 2-3 months. This time should be enough for you to understand the basics of a trader, to understand the main rules and the basics of trading. The main thing is not to open a large account at once, start with small investments, and then increase your investment over time.

According to me 3-4 months are enough on demo account.

Once you are comfortable trading in Demo, try for 4 consecutive weeks in the green.
If a week is in the red start over. This gives you a goal to work towards at least...

Not more than a month. Demo is just to get familiar with the trading platform. Once you are familiar, have tested your strategies and checked the spreads etc, you are good to go live then.

At least 3 months. Demo is to help you train to be a Forex trader. Only go live when you can make consistent money on demo
