A martingale series is doubling the last try that failed. Martingales are mostly used as a recovery system when the first try goes wrong. When you don't close the trades until the combined total is positive that is price cost averaging. Averaging this way is more of a system. You are not recovering as nothing has yet been lost, so averaging is more system while just the martingale is just a type of recovery system.

Hi Bob,

it is not exactly dubling. You can triple the trade size or even multiple position by 1.1575. That's still martingale.
Basically martingale is money management when you increase you trade size when equity decrease.
The opposite approach is anti martingale.

Martingale is lots of fun.. it really is lots of fun, BUT. Its for short term use with very small lot sizes and a large account. Dont use them long term as they will blow the account. I use them and have used all kinds and gridders... Lots of fun and its addictive fun, but they will blow a account or make it so slow on recovery that your paying fees every night on the money plus the spread.

Use it for short term fun ( gambling) but never long term.
My current live chart is a martingale/ grid account trading both sizes with my own home built EA. Its for fun.

I say the forex market is always bad. 85% of accounts end up losers? They can't all be martingales and from the comments from all knowing gurus, very few of them are martingales. In a field of destruction, how can you say one thing is bad, its all bad.

Im working on a negative correlation setup with EAs and Im using martigales to help me with the out of cycle swing that occurs several times a day. Its a type of negative correlation grid/martingle with a third type of software ( EA) that takes the profit on the balance. You can follow my chart for a few days as I live demo test it. Demo might last a few weeks. Im always tinking and renewing new charts. Im always pushing these to hard and they blow the demo accounts often.

Martingales don't choose the direction, only the size. The direction is still up to the trader. So if the market is trending up, you do a buy. Volatility has nothing to do with it either. Your statement is still unsubstantiated and its beginning to sound like you really don't know martingale systems very well. Maybe read a little more.

Base on what I read in previous post I refer to averaging down not martingale. Sorry for confusion. I learn the diff of averaging n martingale. Thank you.

I'm using a martingale scalper and changed it to grid also. Your welcome to follow it until I reset it. My Home built EA, It a smart EA, but it can get into trouble, just hasn't yet. I m using a third EA for managing the wins and losses.
