Hi guys,
I am a programmer by profession, so I have a good foundation I just need some resources and material to get aquainted with the
software and programming language used to code EA's. Any help will be useful.

open the MT4 MetaQuotes Language Editor (F4) from the terminal and look in the toolbox. you will find Code Base tap which will lead you to MQL4.com when you double tap a selection. there you will also find a Book with examples you can copy and paste.

Coders Guru wrote some very good tutorials about mql coding. Although, he is no longer active in the mql community, I am sure that his tutorials are still available online. Perhaps, google will help you to find them.

Thanks all.
I've been looking at lua for fxcm's marketscope interface, the structure seems simpler to understand than mql 4.
I currently use fxcm hence my bias. What are your thoughts?

@fxdimarion you can find resources on both FxProgrammers.com and FxCodeBase.com in the sections on the Indicator SDK for FXCM Trading Station's Marketscope charts.

To be EA professional programmer, you need to know the pure C programming. From there you can understand the MQL4 professionally.
This is exactly what I did. I believe that EA builders will never take you the proficiency level. There are too many things there need human brain to code.

Just learn simple "C" language. It is enough. Then open few simple EA or scripts codes, then, you will understand 75% - 90% of the logic of the code. In few days, I believe you can do your first EA without any mistakes.

MQL is a C like programming language. BTW, there are by now many reference guides and tutorials available. Beside, if you look for somebody with special skills, you can always hire a professional MQL programmer.

RoboPIP on babypips.com has been doing a coding course once a week - Look at the Friday forum news.
