New Zealand Interest Rate Decision Due On Wednesday

(RTTNews) - The Reserve Bank of New Zealand will on Wednesday conclude its monetary policy meeting and then announce its decision on interest rates, highlighting a light day for Asia-Pacific economic activity. The RBNZ is widely expected to keep its Official Cash Rate unchanged at 5.50 percent.
South Korea will see July data for imports, exports and trade balance. In June, imports were down 25.4 percent and exports sank 16.5 percent for a trade surplus of $1.63 billion.
Australia will see July results for the leading index from the Melbourne Institute; in June, the index rose 0.1 percent on month.

The Japanese stock market on Friday snapped the two-day slide in which it had dropped almost 550 points or 1.5 percent. The Nikkei 225 now sits just above the 37,160-point plateau although it may hand back those gains on Monday.

U.S. New Home Sales Spike From Downwardly Revised Level In April
The Commerce Department released a report on Friday showing new home sales in the U.S. in the month of April spiked compared to a significantly downwardly revised level in March. The report said new home sales soared by 10.9 percent to an annual rate of 743,000 in April after jumping by 2.6 percent to a downwardly revised rate of 670,000 in March.
