South Korea Inflation Rises 2.8% On Year In January

(RTTNews) - Consumer prices in South Korea were up 2.8 percent on year in January, Statistics Korea said on Friday.

That was shy of expectations for a gain of 2.9 percent and down from 3.2 percent in the previous month.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4 percent - matching forecasts following the flat reading in December.

Core CPI, which excludes volatile food prices, was up 0.4 percent on month and 2.5 percent on year after gaining 0.2 percent on month and 3.4 percent on year a month earlier.
