U.S. Weekly Jobless Claims Inch Up From Downwardly Revised Level
A report released by the Labor Department on Thursday showed a modest increase in first-time claims for U.S. unemployment benefits in the week ended May 20th. The Labor Department said initial jobless claims crept up to 229,000, an increase of 4,000 from the previous week's downwardly revised level of 225,000.

Indonesia Central Bank Keeps Rate Unchanged
Indonesia's central bank left its benchmark rate unchanged for the fourth consecutive meeting on Thursday, as inflation moved closer to the target. The Board of Governors of Bank Indonesia, led by Governor Perry Warjiyo, decided to hold the seven-day reverse repo rate at 5.75 percent. The deposit facility rate was retained at 5.00 percent and the lending facility rate at 6.50 percent.

Bank Of Korea Holds Key Rate Steady At 3.50%
South Korea's central bank left its key interest rate unchanged for the third straight meeting on Thursday but the bank chief signaled that more rate hikes cannot be ruled out due to the persistent inflation. The Monetary Policy Board of the Bank of Korea, headed by Governor Rhee Chang-yong, unanimously decided to keep the Base Rate unchanged at 3.50 percent.

German Consumer Confidence To Improve Slightly In June: GfK
Germany's consumer confidence will strengthen in June as households were more positive about their income growth amid the hope of a rise in wages and salaries resulting in a less severe loss of purchasing power. The consumer confidence index rose to -24.2 in June from a revised -25.8 in May, survey results from the market research group GfK showed Thursday.

UK Car Production Grows 9.9% On Foreign Demand
UK car production rose for the third successive month in April, supported by strong export demand along with continued ease in global supply chain shortages, particularly with regard to semiconductors, data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, or SMMT, showed. Car production climbed 9.9 percent year-on-year to 66,527 units in April, driven by a 14.7 percent surge in exports.
