Which indicator is the best to measure breakout ?

Depends on how you look at it, Elks. You would have found another challenge or pastime or occupation for yourself. Another hard nut to crack. People tend to attract the same kinds of challenges to their lives, but you never know in advance, in what form will they appear.

I think that whatever I do that teaches me something, it was worth, even if it was bad and sucked ( like going to school, I hated it but, I learned some good stuff)

I'm saying is the effort of learning the craft worth the craft ?
I can learn a shit load running away from a lion, for example, I don't have to run faster than the lion, just faster than the guy behind me.
The stats are abysmal. Almost no one makes it in fx. It's a bell curve. Less than 10% of people who try this makes it and of those less than 1% gets rich. That's 1% of the 10%.
Only the guys that put in the decades end up getting it. Why not go to the beach or make porn? Both are more profitable.

I had no gray hair just 2 years ago. Now, daily gets up at London open took it's toll.
It's good I am not getting up at 2:30 a.m. as I have been doing for almost 2 years every day.

Alright chaps, everyone has a cross to bear ... and other person's crosses always seem smaller and lighter .... we can't always make it easier but at least we can try and make it bearable. Keep those heads high, keep those upper lips stiff, and have a nice weekend. 😉

I personally trade everything including break outs. The key is to know that break out have less probability than fading break out and profit must be taken quickly with stop moved quickly too for the rest of position.
I would say that Forex and oil differes in this regard. Forex in imho, is artificial constract and not a real thing. It is not even a shadow of real thing. Oil on the other hand is the very real thing and the foundation of everything. It tends to move much stronger and I would not do what i used to do with currencies on oil.

Yes, I agree and know time is precious. So I made up my mind that I used to employ traders for manual trading in the past. It is costly but worth to save my time.
Right now, I fired all traders and use EA. Employed FRM to control risk and MM. Still costly but I can spend time on research, reading, outdoor activities, seminar, video game, travelling overseas and looking for new retail business .
So don't be an old style and traditional trader now !!

But I think it all depends upon whether manual trader is good or not. Had your traders were good you would not fired them, period.

Good manual traders are not easy to find. "Good" means positive mental status, no emotional and rational action, teamwork, no heroism, responsible to shareholders' interests and obey code and protocol by FRM.
If I spend all time on human resources and team relationship issue, I will die.
So proprietary EAs (24 hours working) are my choice to replace trader's skill and let qualified FRM to monitor the portfolio risk and market risk.
Therefore, I can spend time to focus on non-financial business and enjoy leisure time.
I used to read the start-up business rule. One man band will be easy to fail. Teamwork (at least two) has greater chance to succeed.
Anyway, I respect all experience traders here as their knowledge and experience is valuable. They should do more high level management task than operation work.

Once we let machines do our work it can lead us into places we do not wnat to be.
We actually can see results around us.
The latest crisis was caused by major reason, there is pretty much no opportunities for vast majority of humans even in Western world to make decent living. One of the reason is that so many jobs were lost to automation aka. robots add to this China/ India and we have this sucking sound of jobs leaving not just west but Earth as well.
Plus, if everyone employs robots to trade the market the whole market losses sense completely. It is not about running numbers here and there. The whole purpose is to finance useful activities and humans are emotional beings.

Robots are evolving at a few million times the pace humans have. We've had billions of years to evolve, robots of all type only been a round for maybe 20 years and already they are beating us at chess.
We are doomed as a species. That is a given. 99% of species that evolved on this planet has gone extinct. The odds are not good for our continued existence. All it will take is an asteroid, or a mega volcano like yellow stone. And those events will happen.
We either get off this planet or we perish. Quite likely our machines will survive long after were gone if we can get them far enough before we clock out. And that won't take very long. Maybe 100 years.
What relationship we will develop with our machines remains to be seen, but it's inevitable that at some point they will be come sentient and far more intelligent than us.
By the way, something like 80% of market activity is already automated. Manual trading is the exception now days, not the rule...

Grim, robots are things of our own making. It can be stopped in no time. It is our choice. It is we who are making robots.
I do not think there will be Matrix like situation but we can clearly suffer and go extinct due to all complications and most importantly this mechanical thinking that we are not part of this planet's nature.

Regarding machines. Do not forget the second law of termodinamics aka. enthropy. There will not be robot civilization but we can perish nevertheless. The only thing that can defy the second law is living things and machines will never be like living things.
The way of thinking to substitute humans for robot is a very dangerous and also stupid. To whom these capitalists are going to sell goods if only robots work? Robots doe snot need consumption.

There's a very good chance not all life is carbon based, some might be silica based. That means life could have evolved as what you would describe as a machine naturally. There could be a machine out there speculating that carbon based life forms will never supersede it.

I think we have no statistical data to say there is any life at all outside our planet. it's all pure speculations.
I used to be 100% pure Darwinist once as all born and raised in the former USSR were atheists by education. But it all changed.
I just wonder how people can think that such complex machinery of life can appear randomly when oor most sofisticated machines cannot come even close in complexity, especially that living machines are self sustained.
