Simple always comes before complex. Which means that if the forex market was to have opened trades to the public, for the first time today. Most of you would not of placed trades, as the Higher TF would not exist. 😑 So, tell me why you would RISK money trading higher tf, and trying to catch tops and bottoms, when you clearly don't have an understanding of the most simple form of trading, which is engulfing patters.

@alexforex007: yes, accuracy helps LOTS. eg. 50% loss = 100% gains to recover
@Cholipop: yes, risk is VERY SUBJECTIVE. But ultimately, 100% of invested funds are always at risk. To have 0% risk is to not invest at all (in my subjective opinion 😀).

You can expect ANYTHING, but some of your expectations could never become reality.... That is the same thing in forex. Until we start to take out all the junk from our system, only then will you be able to turn 100 to 1000 consistently.

Well, thats partly right, though we should not think we are losing because there is "junk" in our system. Simpler system isn't always a profitable system or even better than complicated system. Bad system is always bad system, which 90% of systems actually are.

How do you define a "system"? A poor system is a system that does not have proven statistics and filters. One should learn how to filter the signals given by your system, because no system is perfect, it WILL fail at some point. The important thing is to be prepared, that's all, and keep pulling statistics and probabilities out of your system. This is just a game of probabilities.

System: The rules of opening and closing trades.
If one's system gives bad signals and they need to be filtered, the system itself is bad IMO.
How do you define failing? A loss trade? A drawdown percent?
When I build ea systems, I set the lot size small enough to prevent over 30% DD in multi-year backtest. Also the system should recover from any drawdown in less than 3 months.

Trading can get a lonely activity, and threads like these can put a smile to my face in moments of boredom. As long as newcommers have expectations like these, there will be enough losing trades for the winning traders to take advantage of. Is it possible to win the lottery? Of Course!! but I would not make my life goals around it...

To be fair most of us started off thinking that things like this!! It can happen and it is possible! however if it was to happen i can guarantee that that you would loose it all and more in less than 4 weeks! sometimes the worst thing that can happen is instant success!

Very true Cholipop i have lost count of the number of times i have put a trade on only to see the market fly in the opposite direction to my trade! i used to wonder if all the big banks and hedge funds were waiting for me to trade so they could do the exact opposite!! lol

At what point did you stop thinking that the banks and hedge funds are trading against you? It has happened to me in the past as well, but then I looked at why I would take a position, and on the very next candle the reverse would start. I then notice that it all comes down to engulfing. A reversal can not occur unless an engulf happens, and the same as an extension.
The most popular form of trading is using "support and resistance" level and lines, but that is by far one of the most bias form of trading. As once the price has hit a support or resistance level you still have to pick up if it will bounce off or extend across it.
