Sensex, Nifty Marginally Higher In Lackluster Trade

(RTTNews) - Indian shares were marginally higher on Tuesday, tracking mixed cues from global markets.

The benchmark S&P/BSE Sensex was up 75 points, or 0.1 percent, at 81,579 in early trade while the broader NSE Nifty index was up 24 points, or 0.1 percent, at 24,643. Tata Motors climbed 1.1 percent on the price hike buzz.

Bajaj Finance, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, Bajaj FinServ and Shriram Finance were up 1-2 percent.

Tata Power dropped half a percent after announcing an investment of Rs 1.2 lakh crore in Rajasthan.

Vodafone Idea gained 0.6 percent on fund raising reports.

Mahindra & Mahindra shares fell about 1 percent. Mahindra Electric Automobile told the Delhi High Court (HC) on Monday that it would be rebranding its upcoming electric car model from "BE 6e" to "BE 6" but plan to contest IndiGo's claims over the trademark infringement in court.

Metropolis Healthcare added half a percent after it agreed to acquire Core Diagnostics for Rs 247 crore.

Biocon edged up slightly on news it would sell a 2 percent stake in contract research and manufacturing services firm Syngene International through block deals.
