It is definitely do-able, but (as I'm sure you're aware :) ) you'll just experience heavy heavy drawdowns...16.35% would be the gain you'd require every month (or average over this period) for 36 months (compounding through-out) and you'd reach your goal in three years from $5k > $1m (approx)...You will do it, I have no doubt. to everyone else (including me) this will be a 'watch and learn' lesson...

You will lose all your profits I gaurantee it.Not because I am being negative, as I will make consistent returns from here on out; but more importantly, you dont really know what you're doing. You've just said it.I'd take your money out and enjoy it, come back once you've developed a system where you understand "random distribution of outcome" and expected win streaks and losses.You can argue with me all you want, I am not interested. You can only make big gains with big risks. If you're not trading quants or HFT algorithms then most likely not.The question you're asking is very deep in relation to ones system. So i'll keep it simple. If you're a discretionary trader and manually place your trades, then reaching 40% return consistently would be quite incredible without taking signifcant risk.If you carry this mentality for much longer you're going to shoot yourself in the foot that reaching for high percentage returns in a short amount of time, is what trading is all about.
