That's the point, according to me ESMA is trying to limit small players from trading in these conditions, I think the final effect that they want to achieve is rather to make small players quit the "game" (if I may say it roughly) Maybe it is much more complicated than we all think

No, I don't think that this will help them. I think that it will rather make them quit trading... well at least the reasonable ones that are acquainted with the fact that low leverage requests more funds to deposit... I think many of retail players may just quit trading after these changes. Maybe "Defending" wasn't the good word for what I meant :)

I am not an experienced trader, however I prefer to trade with a DMA broker that provides interbank spreads. Thus the spread cannot be fixed... but always floating as it depends on the market conditions. LongVision is right there is no 100 % fixed spread and it is not normal to be like this ...

Unfortunately many people trade with much more than they can afford to lose, they think that with Forex they can become rich , they mortgage their houses, estates and etc... this is illness. .. I personally know such people.... So I think the end purpose of ESMAs restrictions may come to defend the small players

It is not a must actually, but this way you can practically compare trading conditions, spreads, etc.. Some brokers attract with bonuses, others with low spreads and commissions... it all differs. Thus you can choose with whom you'd prefer to stick to :)Maybe he is not getting all of expected facilities in one broker. Otherwise, he is not sure about the transparency of his 1st broker.

I am most of the time also on EUR/USD , as maria-taylor says, that's the most tradable and liquid pair with low spreads... and I think as well traders with rather low experience tend to be on this pair...
