If your strategy takes 1 day to backtest then your code needs rewriting. No EA should backtest that slow.

Keep clear of the free information and opinions on forums. It is all junk or written by newbies. Find a proper paid for course from someone that has a myfxbook page with results

Easier said than done. People start Forex because they want profits, money. This is all driven by greed or desperation. Very difficult to control those emotions

Broker is important but as long as you get a regulated broker you will be fine. Strategy you use is of utmost importance. Get that right and $$$ get that wrong and you will be broke

Demo is the reach teacher to us all. No matter how much you think you know a demo account will show you if you are right or not. Do not try on live because it is a lot more expensive!!
What leverage do you all use?

I use max leverage I can find from a regulated broker. Best I can find is 1:500 at the moment. As Vontogr says higher leverage is safer and better. US and EU think otherwise but they don't know what they are talking about
